Found a beautiful summer, 100% cotton quilt I'd love to use this summer.

I don't like using a bedskirt, so how would a king size quilt fit on a queen size bed?

It would probably come to about half way to 3/4 down on sides. I have a king and the quilts I have just come down a few inches on the side.

I use a king sized one for my queen all the time. The only thing to watch out for is that if you are buying the matching shams (sometimes included) they will be for the bigger pillows.

Most provide measurements. Then you can go measure across your bed to see where it would fall.

I don't buy quilts anymore because I decided I prefer a bedspread that goes all the way to the floor around 3 sides. I tried the whole bedskirt thing for years and I just hated them. I also don't like having that area around the bed showing, so bedspreads work for me.

Like you, I also like 100% cotton. All my bedding, from the sheets to blankets to bedspread, is cotton.

But I'd say to just measure and get a feel for where it would fall. I would think that a King size would be good on a Queen bed because you'd just have that much more side and bottom end coverage.

A king quilt is the same length as a queen quilt so you only gain extra material on the sides of the bed. If the quilt doesn't have directionality in its pattern, though, and you can switch it so that the longest measurement goes from the head to the foot of the bed, it will give you better coverage than a queen, but not enough to hang to the floor.

It should work okay but try to measure first.

I found a bedskirt I ordered through a mailorder catalogue that works well for me. It has elastic around it so it is easy to put on and remove for washing which was almost impossible with the kind that completely covers the box spring.

This same catalogue had some bedspreads that were nice and reminded me of ones that were used in the 1950's and before the bedskirt/quilt/sham combo became so popular. These spreads had a quilted top and the sides were longer than quilts or coverlets have and hung to the floor. When made, the bed looked almost like it would using a separate dust ruffle and quilt.

I love this skirt - hate to see the dark hole under the bed - looks awful!

I have the exact same bedskirt and love it as well.

I have tried king quilts for my bed, and if they have pattern or border that is designed to edge the top of the mattress (and so many do) they don't work, as they look off. They also hang lower on the sides than I like. A quilt should hang down the side to just cover the very top of the bedskirt. When it goes down too far, it looks sloppy.

The best thing they could do is quit downsizing the bedding. All bedding, sheets, blankets, quilts, etc are getting smaller and smaller. They think we don't miss an inch here and two inches there, but with these newer style thick mattresses and box springs, the newer bedding just isn't cutting it. I pay strict attention to the measurements of bedding now before I buy, and no matter how much I love it, if it isn't going to fit the way I want/need it to, I can't buy it.

I think this idea of a size that is supposed to fit either a full or queen bed in such nonsense as well. Let's get back to true sizing, even if it costs more money.

It depends on how high your bed is and the exact measurements of the quilt. Measure from the floor on one side of the bed up and across the top of the bed all the way to the floor on the other side. Then check how wide the quilt is and you'll know where it will hit on the sides of your bed. Hope it works.
