When you make a purchase with a credit card and return the item, the purchase amount has to be credited back to the original card used for that purchase. If the money were applied to your QVC account, it would essentially be a cash advance from your credit card.

Nope. Mine was the opposite. I wanted mine to be credited back to original method of payment. What I got (sometimes) was QVC credit. Thank goodness it was small amount, not hundreds.

I wonder if you pay with a regular credit card they can't give you credit to that card other than money back to that account, but if you use the Q card they can credit your QVC account? I know when I used my Q card I never had an issue getting a credit to my QVC account.

I rarely use Q Card. I use it only when I get a warning that it'll close if I don't use it. lol. Once upon a time ago, you use it to get no tax on tax day. No more.... hasn't seen it for the past couple of years. sigh......

What I use are one of the major credit cards that offer cashback; I get the cashback in a matter of days. I would get the cashback before I get the items shipped to me. lol

I've never had an issue with a return being processed the way I indicate. I've had problems when I select send it in a different size. I usually get a credit instead even though the product was in stock.

I once requested a Q credit because I knew I was about to order something else and thought it would be easier. They credited my Discover. Not a big deal I guess.

I don't think whoever receives the return even reads anything on it, but just scans the barcode or whatever and keeps going. I say that because any time I've sent back an item and placed a check mark by "defective" I am only given the original purchase amount less the return s&h fee. But, any time I ALSO add a large note, that can't be missed, stapled to the return slip, saying something like "This item is defective. Please do not charge me for return s&h" I am given a refund of the entire amount to which I'm entitled.

On 3/25/2014 Buck-i-Nana said:
When you make a purchase with a credit card and return the item, the purchase amount has to be credited back to the original card used for that purchase. If the money were applied to your QVC account, it would essentially be a cash advance from your credit card.

That is interesting. I remember, though, my father-in-law ordered a $200 grill and was sent another lower priced grill in error. He had gotten ill and I had to help him fill out the return slip and take it to the post office.

I checked the box for Q to refund to the original payment method, which was his cc. The credit never showed up on the cc. About two months later, I called QVC, and was told that he had a merchandise credit in that amount. He didn't have an online account or I'd have known sooner. I had them transfer it over to his original cc with no problem, but what if I hadn't made that call? He passed away not long after that. So I understand where the OP suggie is coming from when saying "why ask you what you want to do with the return item then do the complete opposite of what you requested".
