If you remove the tub, this space has a lot of great elements that would allow it to become one of several different types of rooms with decent style...

The room is done in neutrals and has a slight flow. I'd like to see the rest of the room since half of the "story" (design picture) is cut off. The other part of the room would probably bring the rest into perspective.

The checked curtains have a rustic, homespun look that belies the traditional formality of the rest of the elements (the armoire, the mirror, pendant light, and the other fine wood furniture), I think.

I can appreciate eclecticism, but the rusticity of those curtains, while fine in other circumstances, here they exist as an uneasy departure from the rest of the look.

Ditto, the warm, variegated tile floor is slightly out of kilter with the imposing, high ceilinged formality of this bath. Marble tiles would seem a better fit, maybe.

It seems like this is a combination bath/dressing room, but it looks a bit strange to me. I can see a towel rack reflected in the mirror and what almost looks like a shower. I'm not crazy about this room, but that's most likely because I'm not used to a bathtub in the middle of the room!

@grandma2pkmh I hearted @Oznell I thought her description of the discrepancies in this room were right on target - i.e. homespun curtains verses traditional elegance of other pieces are not a good design element. She did not mention the tub; however, and that type and location of tub are really out of sync with the design of this room IMO

To me, it's a successful mixture. Each element is subtle. The color of the armoire & other furniture pieces blend well with the flooring, and the flooring color/pattern & the chandelier give the room style. The window treatments keep the room clean & sophisticated and tie in the wall color. If the room were mine, I'd find a less ornate mirror and perhaps toss the vase w/flowers. I'd want to be sure there was a shower, too!

I love the juxaposition of the elements. The only discordant note for me are the flowers. The gingham curtains are a good surprise.

The elements do not work well together, and I agree with @Oznell and @janabelle as to why they don't.

Before I scrolled down and saw the bathtub, like most others, I imagine, I expected this to be a bedroom. It still would not surprise me to see a bed on the opposite side of this room.

I do not like the idea of a tub in that setting. Perhaps without the tub being there, it would be tasteful.

The stand alone tub in the middle of the room is very common in old houses.

I love the look and the concept and if i ever build (or redo) another home, I hope that I have the space to do that in the master.

We love baths. My grandchildren love baths. When they come to my home, they want to take baths. We have two beautiful showers, but even the boys want baths.

Reminds me of a bathroom found in an old house in Europe, possibly, France. I'm terrible at identifying the country and era of European furniture.

I'd never put wooden furniture like this in a bathroom; however, the armoire might be for towels, etc. and not sure what the small chest is doing in there, or the small table so close to the tub. All look like they belong elsewhere in the house.

No to the bathtub in the center of the room. I can see water all over the floor and slipping on the tile.

I do like the ceiling light and think it fits the decor.

But, if the designer likes it, I think the furniture style, curtains, and floor tile complement one another.

It's not at all my style or practical for me.

The scale of the room's contents seems skewed. Maybe just because of camera angle.

Chair looks miniature, mirror appears hanging too low to be useful. Armoire/closet looks enormous.

Just not comfortable even looking at the picture.
