We do have PPG paint shops here, just north of where we live, in fact my go-to paint shop.

It's interesting how in one room the color sort of changes with how the light hits it, the sunshine, the seasons change outside, certainly highs & lows.

Our basic in lots of space we've painted a color in the living, dining, large hall, stairwell up to the hall 2nd floor is a PPG color called ponytail which is what I call a cafe au lait color. A good color, goes with everything as I change out the drapes for winter & spring/summer the living rm window (very big) and the drape front door and side window. I play with colors in my 3 bedrooms -- master is a buttery yellow (love this), a light pistachio back spare, very light almond brickle front spare. Love them all, very easy to decorate with.

While I have painted master bath, guest BR and kitchen in the last 6 months, I am always considering paint colors, especially those suggested by the pros.

Yes, light exposure certainly makes a difference in the color and value. My villa was planned well; the garage faces north, where a home gets much exposure to harsh weather and the least amount of natural light.

In my previous home the hall bath faced NE. One small-ish window. It was always dark, so I just went with it. Installed good, bright lighting but also went with a richer palette of brown faux leather paper, brown metallic shower curtain, brown framed print on the wall, brown towels and burgundy curtain across the window. Light almond fixtures and tile , dark wood double vanity. Dramatic, neutral and more masculine, as my DSs shared this bath.

More mood paints. PPG paints are great. My great room was painted in the cookie dough shade. We did white white base boards and ceiling. It’s stunning in the afternoon when the sun filters in. In the morning it’s a little darker. I love to play with paint colors.

I love those colors. The magnolia blossoms is similar to a Martha Stewart Color I did previously. It was almost white during the day and got more yellow at night. I loved it so much I did most of my house in it and it was easy to move from greens to blues to browns in the accents to make each room different.

Now that rum punch is interesting. I'd love that in a bathroom.

The Benjamin Moore stores have a light box where you can put your paint chips in to see what the color looks like in different lights.
