Community Yard Sale this weekend😊

I'm so glad it's finally here! I've been looking at "stuff" piled in my guest room for the past month...but, here's the funniest thing!

I put my notice with setup of my things (arranged on DR table) & single pics of what I was selling on Nextdoor.

Today, I had people who have bought from me in the past message me & ask if they could come over before -- heck yea! My spouse was just "shaking his head" with these people buying. (We're not allowed to do house/yard sales in our driveways due to stupid bylaws) Which means I have to lug this stuff over to our clubhouse where the sale is held.

I sold a lot of home decor, small furniture, kitchen & best of all -- I have people coming tomorrow so maybe I'll be SOLD out before Saturday or it will be a short day😊

Have fun. Don’t be afraid to lower prices so you don’t bring it back inside. As soon as sale over, load the car and immediately go and donate the rest.

Good luck @homedecor1 . Hope you do well. Yard sales are alot of work.

I usually help my Mom with hers every summer. I organize and price every

item and always hope for great weather. It truly pays to put it together

nicely so you getter better results.

you can be sure of that!!! Nothing is coming back in this house...for sure!

I've been really good about keeping to that. Our community has a Helping Hands donation table (it goes to local senior community for this sale) and I'd be happy to just drop it there!

thank you! Actually I'm finding it "freeing" getting ready as I have really looked at what I've been "storing" for over 7 years in the attic!

I had "dreams of granduer" making new friends & entertaining as I did when I lived up north near family & friends. (My house was the meeting spot for every occassion and holiday)

I found out real quick the people I met here don't do anything like this -- so I'm happy to sell the things maybe someone else can use!

The good thing, most are still in the original boxes, which will be a easier sell.

I won't be a millionaire but I'll be happy lose some extra "stuff".

We have the same HOA rule. I have been bugging them to change the yard sale to the community center because there is no parking in our community for guests, so it's actually quite dangerous having people driving all through the neighborhood and not watching where they are driving because they are looking to see what stuff people have out. People also don't go down all the streets, so people in the back don't bother.

I would rather drag it to the community center.

Where I used to live, they had a donation truck on site, so after the sale, you could donate whatever you didn't want to take home.

You are so right -- we have the same situation. Our streets are very narrow & if I have company it's always a concern for friends needing to park in street. For many reasons, but big one is we have no sidewalks which I don't understand at all considering the main area has them on every street and no street lights. I guess it maybe we are all villas & patio homes.

Plus, they've had this community sale for 20+ years & it used to run for 3 days in both our clubhouse & adjacent parking lots. This sale is something that's a staple of the community -- cars line up at 6am to get in at 7:30! Now, tables are limited to parking area only and all outside. Yes, they used to have Habitat or Salvation Army truck on site for donations -- not anymore.

I think this is the last time I'll do it -- I'm finally really in retirement lifestyle & downsizing😉.

@homedecor1 Good for you. I received a notice today that our Senior apt.complex is having a sale in our clubhouse. I am not sure if I want to lug stuff over as I have COPD and other ailments but if I didn't, I could make some money. I hope you sell out before the sale.

@homedecor1 I also had people ask if they could come over early when I did sales years ago. So much fun.

I talked my husband out of our spring sale this year.....just too much going on to do any of this.

Good Day at Yard Sale: I didn't have much as I was fortunate to do pre-sale.

It was 82 degrees at 10:30 am and I was dying standing out there -- no shaded area in parking lot. 🥵🥵

Interesting crowd this time -- no young moms w/kids or those who were "searching" for something particular.

By 11 it was kinda just "stragglers" and a few buyers.

Good News for me was I was sold out & cleaned up by 11. Most my sales were early and surprisingly, no one "haggled" on my prices.

Funny story, I went to ladies room & spouse watched table & saw box under table with dishes. So he put them up on table thinking they were "forgotten". I came back & there were 2 nice ladies there who asked "how much are you selling Fiesta pieces for?"What??? I was "oh no that's a mistake" I was glad I got back in time cuz I'd be ☹️. (What a dummy -- I accidentally grabbed my new box of Fiesta I just got yesterday when I packed the car😮)

I was 😊 I made a nice amount of extra cash and now to get my house back in order before I leave Tuesday for Easter with my family🐰🌷
