My glass mirror and 2 side glass doors on my bed headboard just will not come clean.

I use clean rags, clean paper towels. I use Sprayaway foam glass cleaner. These streaks are almost like glue. I have tried rubbing them out and nothing is getting out these terrible smudges. These are not fingerprints. I have no idea what is causing these smudges to show up. Today when I did the cleaning of the headboard, the smudges were awful today. they were multiplying the more I cleaned the mirror and glass doors.

The head board is old (25 yrs old). Could it be because the headboard is old the glass door and mirror is just plain wearing out.

Does anyone know what I could use to clean up these smudges .

Thanks for any help.

Hello Viva...

Have you by any chance tried wiping the glass mirrors down with newspaper pages instead of a cloth or paper towels....etc ? There is something in the ink of the newspaper that will usually take out streaks and smudges. Try using your cleaner and then a page from the newspaper to dry. See if that works....just a thought....its the only thing that comes to mind. I have a very old antique dresser in our bedroom and the mirrors are over 100 yrs old and they are fine. So I don't think age is the issue....but, not sure. Maybe the newspaper might help get the smudges and streaks out.

if the mirror is on a headboard then it could be the smudges are from hair oil or hair sproducts.....the only thing I use now that seems to work on mirrors is Windex Original formula with AmmoniaD....it works great

Hi Viva, would you happen to have vinegar? I would try the vinegar straight up with plain white paper towels just to see if you can break through the film/smudging. Hopefully you'll see a clear spot and be able to take it from there.

I just couldn't get into using newspaper as it leaves black on your fingers and my windows are white painted wooden panes. So it may clean the glass, but leaves black ink residue behind.

Is it possible that the silver backing on the mirror is breaking down? Sometimes if the backing is flaking or cracked, it can affect the reflection on the front.

You could try getting some glass craft paint and tint it to make it less noticeable. Practice on some plain glass first.
