Over the years I've seen you post your good results in selling Temptations, etc. on different sites.

I'm in Phase 3 (final) of purging my tableware, dishes, serving pieces. I just have a lot of "various" pieces. Of course, lots of Temptations and Fiestaware. I also have many pieces of Fenton, Johnson Bros., Lenox flowers & set of 12 holly christmas dishes, Capodimonte & various other single pieces.

I had luck once selling pieces thru Nextdoor but seems "traffic" on the site in this area has "slowed". We do have our community yard sale mid-April but since painters & bath remodel guys are coming late Feb I'd like to have it gone. (Plus, I'd have some extra cash for new towels, bath accessories, etc.).

Any suggestions? My son suggested Ebay but I'm not wanting to set up Paypal & not that online seller savvy.

And how do you figure prices, do you split sets?

@homedecor1. You picked collectibles that would be a real pain in the neck to have to pack and ship. You could have the UPS store do it but they'd charge you most of what your profit would be. I don't envy you this chore. It would be great if you could find a dealer who'd buy it all

My friend uses FB garage sales. You post pictures of the items and people haggle/agree to buy. She takes cash only. The people come to her house and make the exchange.

I do this as well but NEVER exchange at my house! We always meet in a public place such as a WalMart or grocery store parking lot. And I don't go alone.

Her husband is usually there. Yes, public location sounds like what I'd do. They say do the exchange at the police station.

I don’t know if they are in your area, but there are some places that sell your things on eBay for you for a small fee....they photograph the items, price, ship, etc. the one close to us seems to stay pretty busy. I would try FB first and then try to find someone to help you with it. Also, check Replacements.com website. They buy lots of the brands you mentioned. Stay off of Craigslist...lots of very dicey situations begin there.

@homedecor1....the only issue I see using ebay is the shipping cost of the heavy serving pieces, ebay may not be worth it, price wise...

We recently moved into a condo and I had so many dihes it was ridiculous. After my kids took what they wanted I donated the rest to an animal shelter in my area who has a flea market every weekend and use the profits to care for the animals. Much less trouble and I can write off the donation on my taxes.

had a dental appt. this morning and there is a "vintage/antique/consignment" dealer on the way there. I took some pieces with me including a dish from my Lenox Holly pattern and a full tea service from a company in Germany from the late 1950's a friend gave me.

Oh dear ... I was pretty surprised there is NO value to them. He suggested "consigning" them. I went over and met with the lady who runs the consignment store...the store was "filled" with more "treasures" than a Goodwill, Salvation Army or other "thrift" store. She was NOT interested in consigning them.

Well, guess its the good ole' yard sale, fb marketplace or a "pre-estate" sale at my house ...needless to say, I "ain't" getting rich!!!

@homedecor1 - I agree with many other posters here; I've sold several Temp-tations and other stoneware items on ebay in the past year, and they cost so much to ship that even when I have brand new items and try to set the prices as low as possible, I basically make only a couple bucks from each sale. If you are in an area where you can offer an in-person exchange safely, I highly recommend that. (FWIW, you can offer local pickup on ebay auctions, but in all my years of selling, I've only had someone take me up on it once. To be fair, I only offer local pickup on large items, but still...just once.)

As far as pricing goes, though, you may want to browse ebay to get a general idea of what other sellers are asking for items like yours and then decide whether you agree or not. Obviously, this will depend on whether you're really just trying to get rid of things or whether you're trying to get back some of the original value of the item—but keep in mind that it is only in rare cases that you'll be able to get what you paid in the first place. People always want a bargain!

@mousiegirl I'm going through my cabinets right now to move stuff I never use to a garage cabinet. Just not quite ready to get rid of some things yet. LOL.

The glass dishes are indeed Pyrex but I got them at Coatco as part of a set of Snapware type storage. Each piece has a lid so I store leftovers that might go straight to microwave or oven.

Thanks for posting these pics! Wow, you really do get a lot of stuff and weight on them. I'm impressed with just how much they actually hold. Were your cabinets high end, and so have a high weight limit on those?

I looked at the pull outs on the cabinets we are considering, and I didn't feel they would begin to hold what I see on yours. Love how convenient that must be!

@Mominohio I would not say really high end - just an upgrade from builder grade when I chose the stuff for our house. They are pretty sturdy though. I am careful about distributing the weight evenly and not pulling the shelves all the way out. They've held up for over 15 years now.
