We have the bottom half of one between the living room and dining room. My husband made it so we could keep the dogs separate when needed.

I love Dutch doors and have always wanted one... I don't think I'd want one as my front door but think it would make such a charming kitchen or back entry door...

All I can see is a major security concern and a leaker of lovely A/C in the summer and heat in the winter. We have way to many bugs down here in the southeast to have something like that. I can see it in a country where there aren't insects but those countries tend to have cold weather not to mention rain and snow.

There was a door like that where I worked. It was there to make it easy to hand out supplies while having a level of security in place with the lower half of the door closed. For me a door like that is more utilitarian than it is aesthetically pleasing.
