I have a hard time with paint colors too. Maybe a bit more of a true gray? It looks good next to white I think. Good luck and let us know what you go with!

A pale salmon or tawny peach color would do nicely with the gray tile and the walnut cabinetry. Think “rose brown”. Avoid anything too orange or red. Look for beiges that lean to pink or peach. The greige gets too dull because it blends without brightening, but beige/pink/ salmon will be warm and harmonious and still be neutral. Semigloss is easier to clean than flat and might be a better pick in a kitchen.

Alternative might be a beige that leans to yellow or rich cream. Not a color that stands up well to heat and food films like grease over time, but can work well. Beige with gray overtones was the miscalculation. Go cheerier.

I would do white. A clean crisp white!

And, if you did want a contrast from the white trim, I would repaint the trim a

complimentary greige to offset and compliment the floor.

Walnut ombinets sound dark to me - I would go as light as possible on the walls no matter what color you choose.

It might depend on your room’s exposure. I like a warm looking kitchen. We have lighter wood cabinets, shades of beige backsplashes, and an off-white tile floor. The walls are a very light but warm beige, with green and red stenciling beneath the ceiling. I have some bright color ceramics on the counter. The table and chairs are oak. I suggest you get some sample paints, paint on a large piece of cardboard, and look at your potentials in both natural and artificial lighting. Hope this helps.

I'm lucky I have a painters pallette here that fans and shows every color imaginable.

If I didn't have it i'd head to the paint store or big box and pick out a million different color swatches and bring them into the room - Look at them day, evening, night time as they change with the light.

Never fails, the color I thought would be great in the store is the last color I'd pick when I get it home. Lighting is everything.

My advice- narrow down your color choice to a few, get sample size paint and get a blank canvas or they sell disposable sheets that you can paint and hold them on the wall to see what color is best from your narrowed down choices.

Painting is an education, takes patience and time to do it right but the outcome can make or break the room. Do it right the first time and you won't be sorry.

Sorry no picture. Room being gutted. Room just gets afternoon light. Interesting suggestion on changing trim. Pale green sounds inviting. Would like to go darker but afraid it might be too dark. Like contrast with trim. Heading to paint store with cabinet door and floor tile again. I am appreciating your suggestions. This scares me.

I don't know if you like color on the walls but any soft/pale version should work. Get some paint chips from any hardware or big box store and place a few on the wall at a time. First, find the chip of the color that is similar to your floor. See where it is on the paint chip strip. ( Is it # 3 or 2, etc.) Then zero in on that same placment on the sample chips. Blues, ivories, whites with undertones work well with most of these odd color situations. This is what has worked for me. Take your time and remember---it's only paint. You can always paint over it if you do not like it. Take some stress off the decision and it usually makes it a bit easier.
