Roomba question

Thinking of buying a Roomba to help with dog hair. Do I want wifi or not. Appreciatr your recommendations.

They come w/wi-fi but you do not have to use it if you do not want. Wi-fi has more features. It's especially useful if you have a Google or Amazon AI (Google Assistant or Amazon Echo).

I don't use the wi-fi feature. Love my Roomba for vacuuming and also the other similar product for wet mopping my kitchen, utility, and bathroom floors.

I got mine from QVC.....iRobot Roomba. I see them at Target; however, the price on QVC when I was looking for one, was better than Target. Probably a TSV.

There are so many Roomba type models. They basically all do the same thing. Only you can decide which model is best for you. Depending on your floor type as well as rugs, some work better than others. Do research. Read the reviews on the model you want to help you with your decision.

Just wondering why Roomba has wifi. To play music as it works? So you can tell it where to go next? So it can focus on the dirtiest areas?

So you can control and monitor it from a smartphone app and/or Amazon Echo device.

You can also schedule the Roomba, get notifications, and keep tabs on its cleaning cycles from the app, as opposed to having to schedule your Roomba on the Roomba itself or use a clunky remote control while you are in the presence of said robot.

I currently have 3 Roombas..... absolutly necessities in my life.

Mine are basic styles, but one is a Scheduler. Seemed like a good idea, until one of my kitties got sick and I forgot to unschedule it. Big mess on the floor was the result. Now I run them only when I check the area to be cleaned!

Love my Roombas, "Alice", Carson", and "Lil Doggie"!!

We tried a Roomba over a year ago. Got it from B,B&B. It was pretty expensive but I was able to use my 20% off coupon. I have two long haired cats with hardwood floors throughout. I ended up returning it after giving it a try for a few weeks. Sure it dusted but I found myself running around picking everything up every time I ran it. It would get caught in everything. It destroyed my one big area rug underneath my dining room table. Not happy about that. The hand controller did nothing to control it or to take it "home". Thank goodness I was able to return it and get my whopping $800 back! Insane!

I have four Roombas and can tell you that you do not need wifi.

In response to someone else's post, you do not need wifi to schedule your roomba.

I purchased the i7 last weekend (without the auto empty bin). I love it! My friends who have Roombas advised me to purchase the best model I could afford. I have a small dog and cat. I’m not familiar with the non-WiFi models but I can tell you that I use the WiFi features on the Roomba app such as house mapping, room naming, scheduling, and cleaning history frequently.

Get the shark - it's much cheaper and from everything I have read, much quieter. I opted not to get the wifi - even though everything I own is now controlled by my phone or Alexa. it just added to the price and you can either program the one that is not wifi or just hit the button to turn it on so it did not seem worth the additional charge.

bought the Shark ION, then the IRobot. returned the IRobot, Rumba. FAR prefer the Shark: lighter weight if you want to carry to another room, visible levels of charging and use; I don't use the wi-fi feature.

I believe our's has wifi but I have never used it. I use it in the rooms in our house that I can close off and it works great! Our downstairs is "open concept" and it doesn't do as well there. I really like it and consider it a great time saver!

I purchased one without WiFi from QVC and I love it, but I wish I had splurged on one with the WiFi feature; mainly because I'm getting lazy in my old age - it would be nice to have it go to work when I'm away and realize that I "forgot" to vacuum or have unexpected guests coming over.
