Watching some of the cutest hats being made for babies to adults that are like elf hats or santa hats. There's even bells on them. So cute. I am such a fan of You Tube now.

I got some pretty yarn today that's RH red, green and white. I'm just ga ga over it. I wanted to see if there was a free pattern that was a candy cane that would hold a baby and found a pouch type holder with a matching hat. So the search will go on until I can see if I can find one.

Sounds so cute and fun to make, @qualitygal-- you must be talented with your hands. Crocheting always looks so graceful and has a soothing rhythm to watch, very therapeutic! Good luck with your hunt!

@qualitygal Do you know if JoAnn offers classes? I learned some basic knitting and crocheting as a kid but haven't touched it since.

Thinking about picking it up again.

@SnowpuppyI know my local Joanns all do knitting & crochet classes & you can catch them for 1/2 or so. Don't ever pay full price, just check the website.

Whether the class is good depends on the teacher.

My sister & I took knitting & after a 2 hr class knew nothing.

Signed up for crochet. Same teacher. She was not a good instructor.

I taught myself to crochet from reading a "how to" book. The stitches are very simple. The hard part is reading and interpreting the instructions, especially for the more complex projects. It's good to have a mentor who is a pro to whom you can turn for help when you get stuck.

@Snowpuppy, there are great teaching videos on you tube. My current fave is Jayda In Stitches. Her instructions are very clear and complete and there are lots and lots of different ones.

@Snowpuppy, I believe they do. Michael's does I think. I took one of their painting classes one time. Check the web site or even call the store nearest you and check on it. I am loving it. The women at the Senior Center, help out anytime I have a question or a problem. It's so great. Wonderful ladies, and fun too. I enjoy my crocheting with them.

@KaySD, Jayda is great!! Also 2 others I really like. Mikey is one, Melanie Ham is another. Keep finding others depending on what I want to learn about next.

I checked out the JoAnn's closest to me and their basic class is $21 discounted so thanks for the tip!

There is only 1 instructor and her reviews aren't good, mostly lacking in patience with beginners.

It may be worthwhile for me to search another store's offerings. No Michael's up here. Will try YT. I'm a better learner hands on.

@Oznell, I don't know how talented I am, but I see things that I'd like to create. There's tons of talented women who share what they've made and their talents. I just eat that up.
