My husband and I recently bought Casper mattresses and we love ours. I would wake up with low back and shoulder pain every morning with my traditional spring mattress, not any more. My dentist who is a health nut bought one too and he loves it. Casper has a medium/firm feel so I think that's why it works for the masses.

My sister bought a bobopedic mattress for my mother. I find it too soft. I also had a bear of a time flipping it. I hate mattress shopping. I guess write a list of what you want in a new mattress and hopefully the sales person can narrow the selection.

I'm not sure how long I've had it. No more than 5 years I think. I don't know if I sent in the warranty card so I didn't complain to anyone. I get backaches because it sags in the middle. The mattress manufacturers were pretty schrewd to come out with the pillowtop so you can't turn it over.

I have a two year old Serta mattress that I bought from The Bed Store. It's their top of the line hybrid mattress, which is foam on top and inner springs on the bottom. It has held up very well, and I'm happy with it. They gave me a water proof mattress cover with the mattress, because the warranty won't cover it if there's a stain on the mattress.

I would recommend not buying from a shopping channel. I've heard numerous complaints about the quality of the mattresses sold on shopping channels.

I have always wondered and been concerned about a pillow top for reasons stated by the other posters. Especially the ones that look all poofy and floppy and "loose" on top. That is one reason I chose a Euro-top when I purchased a mattress. I thought it looked more battened down and tight to the rest of the mattress and coils underneath. So far, after 2.5 years, my eurotop is comfy and supportive. I don't notice any problems with the foam layers bunching up underneath....yet. My edges are still supportive too, but I make a conscious effort not to linger sitting on the very edges of my bed very long so that may be why. My eurotop is a Serta btw bought here at QVC.

They need to be made in America.

Last year I purchased from a local mattress store - Simmons Beautyrest, Silver, Luxury, Firm Queen. It's actually medium/firm -- and so so comfortable. I always suggest buying from Costco - they have many choices and reviews on-line OR a local mattress store - check out yelp.

We just got rid of our Serta pillow top last week, @Annabellethecat66. It was less than 6 yrs old. We had to take a flying leap to get in it at night! It was so uncomfortable and it was hard to turn over from your back to side or vv.

We went to a local mattress store, and I told the man who helped us that I did NOT want pillow top, gel, or any kind of foam, and it had to be flippable. I also wanted reinforced sides. In other words, a mattress from the old days.

It’s called Ultra Firm Orthopedic and is made in the USA. We love it so far. Time will tell... We didn’t have to pay extra for the reinforced sides, and we can just sit on it to lie down!

@Ruby Laine I went with a friend and bought a top of the line Sleep Number Bed recently.

Many people I know have some form of Sleep Number Beds so we will see.

It's due to be delivered mid October. It was expensive, but I got it 1/2 price (special sale).

Mainly I wanted one that raises and lowers the head and feet. This one is the one you see where it adjusts while you sleep, etc. It's a Queen and since I am a widow and sleep alone I didn't want one with split sides.

I can't tell you how terrible this Serta mattress is. Like you, it's like a mountain but I think the sides have broken down because you can't even sit on the edges of the bed (you slide right off of the bed). It's crazy! Even when I turn it, both sides are like that!

I have very, very bad back problems so I'm hoping it will make my sleeping time better.

It's amazing to me how many people have Sleep Number Beds. I wish I'd bought one a long time ago. They come and set the entire thing up for me. Good thing because there's no way I could do it. My friend will be here to supervise them. She has one too.

Take care and I hope your mom's sleeping gets better.
