I just got 3 of them from AMZ and they seem to be doing their job. I live in western WA state and we have had some horrible problems with fires all around us ; the smoke has made our air quality hazardous to be out in, for days--so I got the best customers reviewed models, in my price range, that filters out the smoke particles--one downstairs and then in the bedrooms too. Look for true Hepa filters, not hepa -like filters. I will have to spend $$ on the filters but will prob only use them when things get as bad as they have been recently. I run them 24 hours lately too--until we get our rains back that will put out the fires, I fear this is the new normal.

I have a couple in the home really only because I have an asthmatic cat. One is next to the litter boxes. All the litters claim to be 99% dust free, but I have a hard time believing that. And with 3 cats I just can't afford premium cat litter. I keep the smaller one (they came as a set) in the kitchen. Can't attest so much for odors, I haven't noticed cooking odors hanging around for long periods. I do know it filters the litter dust very well though. What I have is a Honeywell.

I have a Honeywell in each of three bedrooms plus one downstairs in my living room, adjacent to the kitchen.I love air cleaners. We all suffer from allergies & they have helped us breathe clean fresh air.I’ve been using air purifiers for 20 years.

I have the ones with lifetime filters. I prefer them because it could get expensive otherwise.Because I run them 24/7 they need to be replaced about every 3 or 4 years. The last ones I bought cost about $189 each.

DH has suggested we have a permanent air purification system installed .It’s a bit expensive but probably worth it.We’ll probably have it done when these start slowing down.

We have two Honeywell that we purchased from HSN. The purifier (?) function/parts can be rinsed out . For odors there are a two pack of disposable filters that last a month for $19.+ I don't always use them and find the rinse out function works pretty well. Of course I cannot test how it purifies but they do dissapate odors nicely.

I purchased new area rugs that had a chemical odor for awhile and the purifiers helped. Also use for cooking odors etc. I live in an area where houses are close and neighbors smoke and barbeque on thier front porch and it seeps in our living room sometimes and these seem to rid it.

I have three air purifierds and a home hepa system. I have allergies. I have an Ionic Pro that I really like. I use it for kitchen odors, It is a hep and has permanent filters. Works like a charm. My other two unites are Homedics which are in the family room area. (It's big and I have an semi open floor plan They work well for a very large area. They have both permanent and replaceable filtlers.

My preference is to have a unit that you don't have to replace any filter. (most units have a pre filter and a permanent filter. It can be difficult to find a generic filter if your model is discontinued.

It's great to flip on the house fan and clear all the air when you accidentally set off the smoke detector.

A friend of mine had life threatening allergies and uses a higher grade (more expensive) Filtcrete furnace filter to filter the air in her whole home.

No not usually---but this summer, there were forrests fires north, south and east of where I live, in WA state and for about 2 weeks the smoke was horribe--I then bought air purifiers for most the living spaces and bedrooms. Kept the the place closed up and ran those machines 24/7---seemed to help. was really bad for awhile. Bought mine from AMZ --got the best reviewed ones that didn't cost an arm and a leg.

Yes. Every bedroom has a standing HEPA filter by Honeywell (these take 2 filters each). They provide clean air especially during pollen season plus a white noise that we all love.

In my dream home, I would have a built-in filtration system in my HVAC. As it stands, I make sure to change the filter in my HVAC montly instead of every 3 months (as the filter states).

Yes we definitely do.

We have a cat and dog who both shed a TON and my son is allergic to the fur so in addition to ensuring I vacuum alot the purifiers are on 24/7.

I have 3 Hamilton Beach purifiers and I like them. They do a god job and they have permanent filters that only need vacuumed off.

As someone else mentioned the Filtrete filters, we also change ours every month (they can last up to like 3 or 4 months though) and that also helps.

I also like windows open when I can but in the winter that's not always easy to manage.
