They make sleeping pillows like giant blown up balloons - your head is 6 inches above your shoulders. I tried many too and suffered constant shoulder/neck pain for months. I finally opened pillow up - enough to get hand through and pulled and pulled half the stuffing out & in the trash. Reduced filling allows you to customize your sleeping position. Best thing I ever did - stop buying more - make what you have softer. Good Luck

I use a down pillow because of a bad neck and the last one I got (which I love) was from JC Penney. It wasn't cheap but it's been well worth it. My physical therapist advised me that down was best for my problems.

I have a purple pillow. I've actually used it for a year. I can't believe that I have slept on the same pillow now for that long as I have not been able to find one that doesn't kill me. I've tried them all too! The purple pillow is $99 from their site, purple mattress, and is heavy because it is the memory gel material the mattress is made of. I is cooler than most cooling pillows out on the market, but isn't without being flipped with my night sweats due to my low thyroid. I only flip it when I wake, so I'm not waking because of it. I have found that 300-400 thread count sheets are better for air flow than high count sheets. I stick to cotton only. Cotton pillow cases are great for air flow, so keep to those. I do also agree with the poster who said she took some of the stuffing out of her pillow and now loves it. Go for that. What have you got to lose if it doesn't work out. I have a closet full of old pillows that don't work for me.

I love my Joy Mangano pillows and have been using them for quite some time now. They work really well for me. I'd consider new ones, but reviews seem to indicate that the newer ones are not at good as the older version (which happens in so many cases!).

You name it I've tried it. LOL!!!

So far out of all the pillows I have tried latex is the only one I like.

They have solid or shredded, natural or synthetic. Synthetic are made from petrochemicals.

I have a solid natural latex pillow. Natural latex is resistant to mold, dust mites & is hypoallergenic.

Natural will cost more then the synthetic.

I'm a side sleeper & latex is pretty much they only pillow I have found that supports my head/neck so I don't wake up with neck pain.

I second fthunt's suggestion. I bought the two My Pillows TSV. They were too thick for me, but I opened them up, took out several handfuls of stuffing (what a mess with bits of foam everywhere, but worth it,) then sewed them up. With some stuffing removed they were perfectly sized for my smaller frame and much more comfortable. I used the leftover stuffing to make a small travel sized pillow for the couch, I just cut and sewed up an old t-shirt for the foam stuffing cover and put a nicer pillowcase tucked in like an envelope over that, but I could have bought a travel sized pillow protector for the cover instead of sewing it myself. I'm pretty cheap.
