This one is harder to see, but what do you think of the various textures together?

How about the light fixture? Does it work in this space?

Good blend of old and modern, if that's the look they were going for. The simple table & chairs work with the detail on walls & ceiling.

I'm ambivalent about the light fixture, but I'm a freak for a chandelier. I don't think I've ever seen one with a shade like that. I'd like to see it in the evening with the light switched on.

I don't like the blend of the modern with such exquisite and fine craftsmanship in the home.

I would love to live in the home, but I feel it doesn't honor a fine home like that, to fill it with anything less than the period and the stature of furnishings the structure calls for.

I like the mix...it's different. I would like a higher back chair for a more comfy feeling to the room and body.

The room itself is fabulous. The furniture a marginal "ok." I'd prefer to see a traditional dining set in there and a fabulous fabric on some pretty chairs. Why waste all that beautiful architectural detail on this drab cheap looking set?

For a room that grand, play it to the hilt!

Blending old and new, I like this @software, @lolakimono. Reminds me a lot of the old in our home as it too has lots of old wood. We really d on't have 'new' mixed in though as the furnishings are old too and were left all in the house, to us via his G'Parents.

Again though I'd look for different lighting.

I do like that hardware on the door in the foreground.

Also, like the chair style (not the color!).

The table looks out of place, looks too much like a white countertop.

That ceiling is WAY too much for me.

And, why white flowers? - use a color - there is NO color going on here except browns and white!!

And per your question, I do not think that particular light fixture works here at all. I find it to be a bad choice for this space.

From the picture the chandlier looks too big to me - but we only see a portion of this room.

Love architectural elements of the room are gorgeous. If you look closely, there is the original chandelier (hidden under the drum lamp shade), which would probably be more appropriate for the room. The laminate table and faux velvet chairs are unattractive in this room; it need old world charm befitting of the time period. Someone has made an attempt with the centerpieces by using hydrandeas, which are an old favorite and beloved shrub by gardeners everywere. All in all, this room has great bones. Remove the drum lamp shade and replace the table & chairs for a step back in historical significance.

Don't like the table/chairs or the chandelier; I think it's cheapens the architectural detail. The table/chairs reminds me of what you see in a cafeteria/employee lunch room and the chandelier is a beehive under cloth/a large lump.

The only thing I like in this room is floor, windows, and the table and chairs.
