I say go for it! My brother bought a very expensive fridge that had a small dent on the side that would go up against a wall in his home for about that much off. Still running fine 10 years later! As long as the dent or scratch isn't visible, won't bug you, doesn't affect the running of the appliance and you get the complete warranty, just why not??

My dad was an appliance dealer. At our house, we always got the scratch and dent appliances, because he said they were just as good as the brand new "perfect" ones, and much less costly. When we moved into this house five years ago, I bought a floor model scratch and dent washer and dryer. Much cheaper, with all the features I wanted. They work perfectly. So, there's a little ding in the door of the dryer! No one really notices it in my laundry room.

It's like getting a brand new car with a little dent in the fender. Everything still works great, but the price is much less. Enjoy! You are a shrewd consumer.

I have never bought a dented appliance. And have refused an appliance that were.

BUT I must say - when you see the dishwasher today. Let your gut tell you, whether it is acceptable. Sometimes dents can be repaired. And if cost is a consideration, getting 50% off is impressive. I did not realize you got so much off.

When Lowe's tried to deliver a dented stove, they offered me 10% off. Sounds like they are giving you quite a deal.

If you decide to buy this DW, you might want to use some of your 50% savings towards purchasing an extended warranty. They don’t make large appliances like they used to. There’s usually a free 1 year manufacturers warranty and it’s uncanny how a major problem will crop up shortly after the warranty expires. Sometimes the problem’s just a nuisance, but it might also stop the appliance dead in its tracks. Where I live, repairmen charge almost $100 just to come to your house. When you add parts and labor to that, you could end up paying $500 or more for a repair on a fairly new appliance.

I am all about a scratch & dent appliance- especially at around half off! Both my Maytag washer and Bosch dryer were "scratch & Dent", meaning there were minor flaws or that the appliance was ordered but then the customer refused delivery for some reason. S&D are getting harder fro me to find, but I will be looking when I move later this year.

If your DW is stainless steel and there is a flaw in the face of it,the front panel can easily be replaced. That's what happened to me a few months ago.

We had a new house built 7 years ago, and we were paying cash for everything, so needless to say, for me it was disconcerting to see so much cash money being depleted from my lifetime savings. We could afford it, but it was still pyschologically scary at times.

My husband is really thrifty too, always looking to save a dollar.

SO, when we were out buying kitchen appliances, we bought a glass top stove that had a couple of (to me)visable scratches on top. We saved a lot on this appliance by doing so.

My inclination is not to do this, I would of course prefer a perfect new purchase, but I knew from my experience with my old glass top stove, that probably within a couple of years I would be seeing other imperfections on top.

It only bothered me during the buying process, once we were in the house cooking on the stove, I never really cared.

I think that if imperfection is not glaring and the savings is substantial enough go for it. Nothing in this world stays perfect for long anyway.

My dryer was the floor model that became dented when a cart that was moving items backed into it; it also scratched the paint.

Have to tell you: I could hardly see the dent (have to put my finger over the area to know it was there) and the paint was a tiny nick near the dent. Plus, they are on the side that sits up next to the washer so you'll never see them.

Those 2 little things plus being a floor model (meaning people looked at it and open/closed the door on occasion) gave me 75% off plus free installation. I ALWAYS look at the scratch and dent section first!!!

As long as it wasn't on the front where it could be seen I would buy a scratch and dent, even if it were on the front, depending on how big it was or how noticeable it was I would consider it.

Definitely a washer or dryer because they're usually in a closet, have their own room or are in the basement.

Absolutley I would consider a scratch and dent appliance. Just would make sure it was damaged in a place that no one could see. And if it were a washer or dryer then that wouldn't matter as much. With the cost of new appliances these days, why not save as much as you can. My refer, stove and dishwasher are all 18 years old, still going strong, (may the appliance gods be with me) so I will be in the market for new soon enough.

I haven't bought a scratch and dent, but only because I never found one when looking for an appliance.

My mom however, back about 1961, was in the market for a dryer and the store they frequented for this kind of thing, had a pink one in the window, that had faded in spots. She got a great deal on it, and it was always in the basement of whatever house we moved to, so who was going to see it?

It lasted for many, many years.

My only concern would be how the appliance was damaged. If it is from something bumping it, you should be just fine. If it was dropped, even in packing crate, it could have sustained internal damage/shock that could shorten the life of the electronics or other components.

I always buy my appliances from the scratch and dent section. I look them over very carefully to see where the damage is and only choose ones where the damage doesn't bother me. I've bought three refrigerators (for houses in three different states) and my current washer and dryer. I've never had a problem with the mechanics of any of them.
