That is referred to as a carriage house in my neck of the woods. We have one. Our garage is very large with 3 bays, one bay has a car lift holding two vehicles. So we have 3 vehicles and a boat stored inside. We have living quarters above that we use as overflow when we have guests staying. My dh's garage is similar to the photos but not as cluttered. Much wider open space. Love to see others are catching on to the carriage house phase.

I do like the inside but the outside and neighborhood are not for me. I was raised and lived in a busy city but now prefer a quieter area.

@ID2. The carriage house in my area is from many many years ago where the very wealthy people had mansions and a carriage house. These housed all of the transportation of the day. Horses and carriages. They are nothing new around here except of course now they have been transformed for cars instead of horses.

In this day and age, I'd remove the rifle from above the bed. Other than that, I could live there very easily. Even with the messy garages. (I'd try anyway!)

Something about the living/kitchen area reminds me of the Manhattan apartment/house Jack Nicholson's character lived in Something's Gotta Give. (Not the one Diane Keaton's character lived in.)

Just a couple days ago I was telling my DH about a large framed print of Custer's Last Stand that hung in my Grandparents beer joint in Eastern Montana. And there it is hanging in this bedroom.

I like the black cat on the bed the best. Reminds me of my Teddy since he's always on my bed. Black cat on white bedding though... not me. Teddy sleeps on dark blue.

Over all I do like the remodel. At least the house isn't as cluttered as the garage.

I always wanted to live downtown in a renovated building, near shopping, restaurants, etc...Oh and warm weather.
