Sounds interesting. I love all VPH other spheres. I'm sure these will be great also. My will-power is definitely lacking when I see Valerie's lighted spheres.

Mason jars are the tsv on the 18th....the spheres on the 15th. TWO VPH tsv's a couple days apart!

I wondered when those were going to be offered. I love that they will be a TSV!!! Thanks so much for the notice. I probably would have missed them otherwise.

Say, 2much, I was just looking at the Insider and it shows a fountain as the TSV for 02/15. Are the spheres a replacement product?

Hi Borntoshop!!! Well let's just say I heard from a very good source that the garden globes would be on at midnight(hint, hint) so I translated that to mean tsv but maybe they will just be offered in that show and not the tsv. Maybe I'm wrong about the globes being the tsv it wouldn't be the first time I've been wrong. Lol

I appreciate the heads up because I haven't been watching or checking items recently aired in a long time now. I would've missed the VPH item completely had you not mentioned when it was coming.

FYI--I think they are all three 4-1/2" diameter, but the stakes are adjustable in height.

If they are all small, that would work well for me as my pots are on the smaller size. I can't wait to see these.

Are they also made of mercury glass too? Or of a more durable material for being outside?

IF they are made the same as the spheres VPH is selling now...

Let me just say, I would never purchase the spheres to go outside...especially if I lived in a high humidity climate! Even here in the mid-west, we have several humid days. The battery boxes will rust and corrode in no time unless there is a new feature on the battery boxes. For those who insist on getting them anyway, I would only bring them out on special occassions like a party or holiday and not leave them out all the time.

I'm not trying to rain on anyone's parade, just passing on info so nobody winds up disappointed mid-summer and find issues with them not working due to battery box issues. The spheres VPH has been selling state they are indoor/outdoor...BUT the battery boxes are not waterproof!!!

Then you have to keep in mind bringing them in during T-storms...especially if there is hail or high winds...AND mercury glass will fade in the sun! There were a few reviewers last year that stated so in their reviews.

All I'm saying is be mindful...and also if you live along the coast with salt water in the air, things corrode even faster. I lived 1 mile from the shore for over 40 yrs...so I know

Good points, Susan Louise, on the issues with using these and similar items outdoors. I had nothing but trouble from corrosion in the battery boxes of solar items that I once used. I've had one CI outdoor candle in a lantern outside for probably a year now. So far, the box hasn't corroded, but I know it's only a matter of time. It's inevitable unless there is a 100% perfect seal over the box.

Maybe the stake covers the battery compartment?

Remember when QVC sold those CI outdoor lanterns on shepherd's hooks? I bought a bunch of those, some for myself and some as gifts. By the end of two years, they were a rusted mess. I really felt like QVC did me wrong on that purchase. I don't think the metal had any kind of rust proofing at all on it. They should never have been sold as an outdoor item.

I agree that if a person wanted to use these mercury globes outside, they would last one season at most. I have Valeries large 3 globe set in green, and they look to me like they are glass which is then dipped in paint and antiqued some way, making the delicate finish on the outside. These globes are so pretty, that I would never use them outside- maybe just for one evening of entertaining, if I did at all. I think the combination of sun, rain and general weather on these would ruin them, but if a person doesn't mind, then go for it. They are really nice.

You are so right Susan Louise. I found out the hard way that they were not entirely waterproofed; water seeped into the battery area and my DH took them apart, dried them out for 2 days; rewired them (he is a tech/electrician) and they worked and are still working great. That is why I have placed them in large birdcages/lanterns, for the protection from the wind/rain, and that works great. Also, I have them hanging under a covered porch/deck and I can really enjoy them now.
