I am having the planking floor installed on house being built. It is in different shades of gray with a little brown. Do you think I should go with a linen type of walls since my furniture is brown and some black. Or would it look better with a light gray?

i am trying to get prepared as this will be an issue for me. I am thinking no color all the same. Thank you for your thoughts.

I would go with the light grey or a white with grey base. Linen would only work if you had a cool undertone in it and not a yellow base. It might conflict with your floors and furniture. Hope this helps you.

I would go with a linen color. There are dozens of shades. Just have fun with the choosing process.

I would stick with a white. Too much gray can be very dreary - I would not overdo on it. You can never go wrong with a fresh white - with no distinct undertone.

Gray can be very pretty - but, needs some color to lighten and brighten - or it will all just get lost together, especially if there is not a lot of window light being let in or even on an overcast or cloudy day.

Make the floor stand out on its own with a fresh white backdrop on the walls.

I would not do gray walls. If you've got gray on the floors that would be entirely too much gray. I would go with linen.

We have Cortec HD in fresco driftwood with shewin Williams funtional grey. That paint color has brown and green undertones. It might go well with the flooring you described.

Our new home is a "spec" house - which means the builder completes the house at his expense then sells it. I tell you this so you know the colors were chosen by the builder's professional designer not by me. Anyway- the floors and kitchen cabinets are dark brown, the kitchen granite is grey, brown and cream - mostly cream. The walls & ceilings are painted ivory. The kitchen backsplash is ivory. When we decided to buy this house they showed us photos of all the various elements and I thought OMG - those won't work at all, but then I have no decorating gene. Now it's near completion I absolutely love how it all goes together beautifully.
