My mom has cataract surgery next week and will also be tested for sleep apnea. My brother has decided to visit after Valentine's Day, for a long weekend. I think he thinks that he will be cleaning out their basement, but I'm pretty sure that will not happen. My mom will not be able to oversee everything, having just had surgery, and if she can't oversee everything, it won't be allowed to take place. My dad is starting to have more nausea from the chemo, and I doubt he will be feeling very good while my brother is here. I can't afford to take time off of work for his visit, so I'm not sure what he'll be doing while he is here...watching my dad doze off on the couch, perhaps? ::shrug::</P> <P>My dad saw his urologist the other day and his PSA is still very high. I don't know why. He had months of antibiotics, and his PSA is still up. I can only imagine if there were cancer there, it would've shown up on his last PET scan. I talked to my mom on the phone today; she sounded depressed and overwhelmed by the multitude of appointments and medical procedures they are both having to schedule and undergo. I think she's really feeling old, because it's almost a full-time job trying to schedule everything, pay all of the medical bills, etc. I requested off for the day of her surgery, but I didn't know she had to go back to see the same doc the next day. I hope my dad is feeling well enough to drive her (he takes Ativan when his nausea gets bad, so he should not be driving). He also has an appointment to go to after hers. I would ask for the extra day off, but my employer keeps calling and telling me not to come in when the snow is bad, so I am having a hard time making ends meet...plus, I don't want them to get the impression that I'm unwilling to work as many days as I possibly can. I see things in the forms of household items and turn them into home decor. I just do it if I get an idea. I've made vanity trays out of framed mirrors and a work area using a door and file cabinets. I use liter soda bottles as mini greenhouses for seedlings. I also use styrofoam egg crates to start seedlings.
