How Did Everyone Do?

Okay, the time has come to check in with all my forum friends and see how all of you did today. I'll fess up first ~ I purchased the egg-shaped bunny wreath, a set of mercury glass bluebirds and a set of mercury glass hearts in white. The guilt is starting to set in because as many of you know, my purging project has been a great success (although far from over).

Now for my gripes. I would have loved to see a presentation of the wreath I bought. Once again, the TSV and all the matching pieces were beaten into the ground ~ again and again. I heard Valerie mention at the beginning of the show with Alberti that there was lots of new in the show ~ new they didn't know about until 30 minutes before the show. Where was it???? I got all jazzed thinking maybe, just maybe, there would be some cute new pieces for Spring but nada.

I guess I didn't do too bad today. How about all of you?

nothing at Q from Valerie BUT I bought some nice Spring items at Hobby Lobby and Michaels today!

I will be strong and not get anything new. I love the wreaths, but I have many wreaths and can always freshen up the ones I have with a few new stems when they are 50-60% off at Michaels.

I am still on my "purging" journey, and continuing to find items that I forgot I had and will bring out again.

Congratulations to those who picked up some new items. Her items are really beautiful and I love the new spring colors, but I'm trying to remember, that I've spent a LOT of money over the years on decor items that now will be donated or recycled.

When I remember how much I spent on some of these items now being purged out, I go back to one of the comments that Carrie Bradshaw said on an old HBO show..."I have 100 pairs of shoes that I paid $400 each for.....I could have had $40,000 by now if I hadn't bought all those shoes!"

After spending days taking down the Christmas decorations, I am on a self imposed spending freeze. If I don't need it, I'm not buying it.

The TSV just wasn't my style or colors. I am not a pink and green person when it comes to home decor.

For those who did purchase items, I hope you enjoy them!

ETA: I am in the process of purging many of my Christmas decor and other decorating items I no longer want, use or need.

I saw that bunny wreath. Love that it's oval. I watched Valerie at midnight just to see the TSV. That wasn't one of my brighter ideas. I was tired when the alarm went off at 6. I was at work all day, so I missed the show. I flipped into her show tonight, but kept seeing the TSV. So, I achieved my goal of buying nothing.

@Julie928 I bought the AD wreaths. Time to switch some old ones out. I might cancel the summer/blue toned wreath as it didn't wow me. I stopped myself from the buying the AD matching candle ones.

I was looking forward to seeing the bunny wreath presented, and was disappointed that it wasn't shown. I left a comment on Valerie's FB page, asking if it would be presented during the 8:00 show. She told me that it wouldn't be.

I also purchased the oval bunny wreath. It was not presented from what I can tell at this point of the day ( 9:00 p.m. ).

I did the same, except I may opt out of the autumn wreath.

I love the candle rings, and considered getting them to use as mini wreaths on my front gates. Then I came to my senses and said no! Have never decorated those gates before, and I'm trying to simplify my life, not make it more full of to-do decorating.

@september that's a great idea on using the small wreaths! I literally asked my husband's opinion on getting the AD wreaths. He said - get them. Normally I just buy. We recently overhauled our backyard and we would like new outdoor furniture out there. So, I need to be somewhat fiscally responsible....

Wasn't even tempted.

I too am doing my annual purge, and looking at things I'm needing to get rid of just to make enough space in closets, drawers etc. that are still nice enough to use, and I realize I have over bought things from Christmas decor to bath towels to dishes and beyond.

I just don't need anything and I too, am lamenting how much money I've spent on some things that are never going to get the use they should or will be given away at a pretty hefty financial loss.

It has to stop somewhere. I guess it stopped here, for today anyway!

I bought the AD wreaths and candle rings. I have her last AD wreath set and will continue to use that too on the front door. When it's finally time to take down the wreath we get at our local garden center (and that we decorate ourselves), I will put the one with the sleigh up for a while. Then the spring one will go up - but not until it's almost spring!

I will use the candle rings too. Magnolia reminds me of my southern roots, so it's a flower I like!

@Julie928... this is why I always chose Dare when playing Truth or Dare as a kid... i’m a bad liar and I don’t want to admit the truth! LOL!

Okay... I got the bunny with the lantern... in the Ivory AND the grey!!! In fairness, I’ve wanted him in ivory since last year... but then when they offered the grey today I wasn’t sure which I liked better, so I bought both and plan to ‘gift’ one.

That does not sound like something someone with a New Year’s resolution to slash spending on decor items should be admitting...at least not just 9 days into the new year!

On the brighter side... I’ve lost 6 pounds... and that bunny is so darn cute.

I watched the shows and was tempted by the boxwood topiaries, the egg shaped bunny wreath and the bluebirds. If the chicken coops would have been smaller and less expensive, that would have been tough, as I am a sucker for mini greenhouses, terrariums, cloches, etc, As others have said, I thought of all the money I have spent on items that I am now getting rid of. The one thing I did buy was the ED white ceramic bunny candle for $12 with free shipping. And I'm thinking of cancelling that, although I'm sure it's too late now. For me to buy only one thing is a real accomplishment.

@Zsazsa @Nataliesgramma I too caved and bought the resin bunny with the lantern in the ivory!!!!! I tried to fight it off all afternoon, just couldn't do it....... Relieved that I am not alone, LOL!!!!

@LindaSal- the only reason I didn't succumb to the bunny was that I bought it in the ivory last year. You will love it and the battery lasts a long time.
