Hello Beautiful!

I found this gorgeous Father Christmas at Hobby Lobby this week. I can't wait to use him in a mantel display.

Isn't he fabulous!! I decorate with them all over my house in places like the mantle, dining room table and going up the stairs. I have eight of them that are all different in the velvet robes. I love them!

He is beautiful. I have a gorgeous church that my Mom made in ceramics class in the 70's. The colors are very similar to his. Can't wait to see a pic of him proudly standing on your mantle.

@Regal Bee, wow, he's beautiful. I love that he is more elegant looking than all holly/jolly, although I like those too. He is special. Can't wait to see him on your mantle.

It almost seems like you just got Thanksgiving up, so soon you'll be changing again. Halloween aisles are already getting smaller and smaller and Thanksgiving is already gone down here, but Christmas is replacing them all. So quickly! Soon Valentine's day will be here. I feel like it is all rushing in too quickly! Retailers seem to be throwing this at us faster and faster.

We all can control when and how we decorate and un decorate for various seasons and holidays in our own home, but plain and simple, if one wishes seasonal/holiday merchandise first choice and biggest selection, you get it when the stores put it out.

Buying early doesn't have to mean decorating with it early (or it can, if that is what one wants), but waiting to shop in the heart of any season will limit the choices.

By the way @Regal Bee, he is beautiful.

Is he as pinkish/light mauve as he looks in the picture?

That was such a popular shade back in the 90's for more elegant holiday decor.

It has gone out of style, but I read somewhere this year, that it is on it's way back.

I had a number of things in that shade back in the day, and I always thought it went well with elegant/Victorian settings.

You are right about selection, first come first serve. We do get to set things out as we want. Right now we are rushing the kids past the Halloween candy aisle. I call this the season of candy! We go from Halloween to Christmas, to Valentines, to Easter candy, so about 7 months of candy, candy, candy! I'll take decorations over a house full of candy too! My sister always purges her decorations for the holidays as she brings in new stuff, so this keeps things down for storage. We have a bi-annual community consignment sale, so she puts the decor and old toys in then! My grandmother uses her generous attic to store all of hers. They had a new roof put on over the old one, so they cut a hole in the old roof and she expanded her attic space onto the old roof space. She has lots of Christmas decor! Her Christmas village stays up year-round on a shelf around the den that has 15ft ceilings, it looks better filling that space than nothing in the off season.

Oh my are you so right about 'the season of candy'!!!!

It starts for Halloween and runs through Easter, and I'm guessing by about May, the dentists are kept busy!!

It has been easier since kiddo is grown and gone, to avoid the candy more now. I will pick up some on the day after (usually Halloween or Easter) when it is half off, and vacuum seal it in mason jars. Then I use it for baking etc. throughout the year, especially M&M's and Kisses.

@Regal Bee - nice find! From what I've seen in the pictures you posted, he will fit in nicely with your decor. Take a look at the new pink amaryllis, I think it would complement him.

I am going to use him in a Victorian and very snowy/icy mantel vignette for Christmas. So exciting.
