For my birthday someone got me a beautiful BBW candle holder and candle (watermelon lemonade) It burned beautifully and smelled wonderful . Never used them before (my favorites are Crossroads, candleberry and Cheerful Giver). Anyway, wanted a purchase a fall/winter scent. Bought the Mashmallow fireside and burned it yesterday. Its wonderful with a great throw. Also, burned beautifully. Just ordered a pumpkin pedistal and chestnut candle Waiting for those. Does anyone else buy BBW candles and have favorite winter scents? thanks

Oh yes, I'm a big fan of these candles, but I mostly purchase them just for the fall and winter seasons. The spring and summer scents tend to be too floral or fruity smelling to me, so I usually purchase candles from other companies at those times of year. For fall, I currently have Sweet Cinnamon Pumpkin, Cinnamon Pretzel Twist, Hot Cocoa and Cream, and The Original. I also like Leaves and Autumn around this time of year. For the holidays, I like Evergreen, Marshmellow Fireside, Winter and Fireside.

If you have Facebook, you should 'Like' their page, because you will get daily updates about sales. They have a huge semi-annual sale around the first week in December during which the candles are on sale. Last year they were $8.50 and with a $10 off $30 coupon that they send you via email, you could really stock up for the season.

I don't burn candles very often but one scent I always have on hand is "Tea and lemon" which was formerly "London calling". It's not your traditional spice/winter scent but it's very "cozy".

I've bought BBW candles for years -- started when Slatkin made them. Fall is usually my favorite season although I still have a bunch of Fall scents on hand. Just went online and don't see as much as usual for this time of year. Most of the time there are tons of pumpkin scents! And I don't see much that is new this season. Hot Cocoa and Cream was a favorite of mine last year. Wish I had some coupons or I'd try and pick some of those up while they are on sale. It is already showing as out of stock online.

( and Kettle corn) Haven't tried the pumpkin pecan waffles yet from BBW-ordered quite a few in the past week-one being salted caramel popcorn. Our taste in scents seem very similar-you have to try the Candleberry Hot Maple Toddy -think you'd like that one a lot. Ordered my third of that one this week.

WOW what a great thread!! I am going to stop by BBW and just smell all these great recommendations....hope they have a sale or something soon.

Edit: have a question about the 3 wick candles....I remember long ago I had one of these from BBW....leaves was the scent...and all I remember was that the wicks would be drowning out in the wax within a short time of lighting the candle.

I even took it back and got another one...same thing happened....I never bought anymore candles since way back then...must be 5yrs I think. Anyway I am assuming that problem is fixed now?

And if anyone can give me the general care/instructions you follow I'd appreciate that. Is there a time limit on how long you burn a candle? do you put the lid on or blow out? do you ever trim these wicks?

Back then I wouldn't burn it longer then 3hrs....I used the lid to put it out...and never trimmed the wicks. That's what I was told back then but who knows now...it's been a long while just getting back into burning candles.

Thanks

Since I love the Crossroads so much(buttered maple syrupm Kettle corn, Bluberry and Grape) I just burn them without the lids.

@tsavorite wrote:

Thanks

So far, I have had no problems with the 3 wick candles from BBW. They pool nicely and I do trim the wicks after each use. I don't use the tops to put them out-I just blow on them gently. I burn them for about 2-3 hours at a time. I didn't buy them 5 years ago but I have been told they are much better than they were in the past. You should give them another try.

I used to buy candles at BBW (I loved their scents!). But years ago, the quality took a huge dive. That included bad wicks- the candle couldn't even burn because they would drown every time. That even happened on the first lighting.

Also their 3-wicks used to have a burn time of 45-60 hours- now, it's 25-40. That's a horrible amount of burn time.

I wish BBW would get their act together, & get back to the quality of the Harry S. days. I purchased several of his Q sets, but I want to select each one of my scents. BBW has such a huge, FUN selection. I miss that.

I"ve been burning these candles for years, and I've never had a problem with tunneling wax. When you burn these candles, you absolutely must burn them long enough so that you produce an even, completely full wax pool on the top of the candle. If you blow the candle out when you just have little pools around each of the wicks, you'll have tunneling.

You can either blow out the candle, use a wick dipper, or put the lid over it until the flames go out then remove the lid so that smoke doesn't pollute the wax. I prefer the method of just lightly putting the lid over the candle until I see the flames extinguish then removing the lid. Blowing the candle out can be dangerous and risks wax going everywhere, and using a wick dipper risks contaminating the candle with the dead part of the wick which could break off during the dipping process.

Once the wax is cool and solid, you can either trim off the mushroom tops of the wicks, or I just use my fingers to pluck off the dead parts at the top.

That's how I take care of my 3 wick candles from BBW.

Thank you ladies for explaining what and how you take care of these 3 wick candles....they did give me a little directions paper today at BBW. I had fun checking out the scents and they were on sale 2/$24 with a extra 20% off....so not a bad deal to pick a few up and see how it goes. I decided to get Autum and Sweet Cinnamon Pumpkin...I hope the dreaded drowning of the wicks from the past truly is gone...I will follow the directions to the letter (but I did that in the past too LOL) since everyone is having such good luck with this brand I couldn't resist getting a few today!
