Next chapter about to begin

So we are just a couple of days from the next chapter in our lives starting. Thursday the movers are coming in the morning. At 3 o'clock we close on our current house and say goodbye. At 4 o'clock my parents then go down the street to close on the construction loan. Friday we have to be out of our current house by noon. We can't move into the apartment until that evening. So we have a bunch of help that will be helping take the few furniture items the movers move to my sisters to the apartment. Then on Tuesday our basement gets dug on the new house. Such a exciting time.

It feels so weird to be leaving house you have been in for almost 39 years. Have learned a lot the last few months. Things don't always run smoothly like you expect but eventually they do work out. Everything in the last few months was the right decision even though at the time it seemed it wasn't. Patience is everything and everything worked out in time. We are only two months passed when we were supposed to start the house. So all in all that isn't to bad.

I wish you well. I have made many moves in my life about half a dozen of them after I got married. It's traumatic, but rewarding when it is all over. Good luck.

I am really going to like seeing my dad actually be able to enjoy his retirement starting Saturday. The kids birthday party is a pool party at my aunts so that will be fun. He hasn't stopped since he retired on June 30th. He has actually lost about ten pounds from not sitting down and relaxing.

I've mentioned to you before that I helped build my dream home.

It was grueling work and I felt disheartened many times.

We took lots of pictures so I can look back. However, the one thing I wish I had done was to keep a journal. Something noting what happened every day.

What I would tell you is, yes, savor this new chapter of your life. But, savor EACH day of all the chapters. Savor each event and, by all means savor even the bad days. The days where you think it will never be done.

Remember it all the first morning you wake up in your new home.

My only regret is not having that journel to reread now that I'm 26 years in my dream home.

One closing down and my parents are getting ready to go to close on the construction loan. Movers came this morning. Such a weird day. We move in to the apartment tomorrow morning. The lady that bought our house was so nice. The entire process of selling the house went very smooth with her the last few weeks. What was really bitter sweet was the way the realtor and her kept saying how beautiful our house was. It had to be hard on the lady because she is going through a divorce and having to leave a 5400 sq foot newer home. Down grading to a house that is 2000 sq feet and was built in 1968. She has grown children but they aren't going to be living with her anymore.
