Tension Rods for Drapes

Any experience with these? I might replace a shade with some sheers, in a bay window (you may have seen my earlier post), and I am curious about nuances that I might not be aware of. I don't want to drill holes in the window frame or drywall.

I've used tension rods for years and they served me well, only thing is make sure the curtians or drapes you are using are not heavy. Thinner curtains or lace type curtains work well, also lighter weight black out curtains. I have a pretty big bay window and used curtains on it with one long tension rod for years and no problems with the rod giving way under the weight.

I use the heavy-duty oval rods. These kind cost more but they do not bend or kink when weighted with heavier fabrics. These have good springs in them and you set the length with a set-screw. There are several brands of these oval rods on the market. I think one of mine is Levolor.

I agree with @blackhole99 about the weight of the curtain. However if you use a long tension rod, make sure you put one of those rod holder things in the middle to set your rod on so it won't sag.

You can also consider shower curtain tension rods for really heavy fabrics.
