Around 3 months ago, I developed sciatica. I went to the doctor and he asked me how old my mattress is - and I said, 16 yrs. He told me I need a good new mattress. I went to the local mattress store (where I've purchased 7 other mattresses during the past 16 yrs). I told the salesman about my sciatica (major pain down my left leg thru the night). He suggested I buy the Simmons Beautyrest, Silver, Luxury Queen. It was delivered 2 days ago. Yesterday and this morning, I woke up --- pain FREE. My previous mattress was also a Simmons - but the salesman said, the new ones are much better. It's 13" tall - so he had to custom order a boxspring 4" lower --- otherwise it would be too high for "short" me.

I have always been happy with Beautyrest and I'm so glad that getting a new mattress has made all the difference! After buying 6 mattresses for other people to sleep on, you're definitely due a mattress all to yourself!

Oh yes - I recall your other post @kivah. Happy to hear that you "sprang" for a new mattress and are feeling much better!!!

When I moved into my new home 16 yrs ago, I purchased 3 full mattresses (low end) for my extra bedrooms -- and purchased a mid-level Simmons Beautyrest, Queen, for myself. Three yrs ago, I replaced the 3 mattresses for my extra bedrooms (I do have people sleeping in them from time to time) --- but I didn't think I needed a new mattress for myself ----- until my doctor told me that my mattress is too old, especially when I told him I developed sciatica. I bought all 8 mattresses from The Sleep Shoppe (ventura county, ca) - a small local family mattress store - they have 4 local stores. The salesman told me if the mattress didn't help me, I had 90 days to exchange it. They're very reputable and I totally trust them.

Depending how heavy you are (and spouse/partner), a mattress usually breaks down after 7-8 years of use. Then replace with a new mattress and box spring. To maintain it's effectiveness rotate your mattress every month.

Hope the new mattress and box spring helps alleviate your sciatica damage.

I am so happy that a new mattress " cured" you. It is so wonderful to be pain free.
