Lighting now

Keeping in mind what I posted yesterday with my bedding and pictures. Which lamp would I choose. Keeping in mind my throw pillows for the bed are creamy ivory.

Second if I choose a chandelier. I Ike these. Do I go with something fancy like the crystal one or do I go with the carriage house one.r

I like the last chandelier also. It's from pier1 and under $200. It's another of those that's the one. Ha ha. I will have to talk to my dad and see if he cares if I do a chandelier instead of a ceiling fan. It doesn't matter which one I don't think.

Woops. Do you mean the last crystal chandelier or the last carriage house one in my first post?

I don't get chandeliers in the bedroom. Unless one lives in a castle, they simply look overbearing and out of place. I like the lamp with the cream colored base best, of those you posted. I think it is nice and neutral and will still be useful elsewhere, or if you change up your bedroom decor later.

I like both lamps and don't think you could go wrong with either one. I think the 2nd chandelier looks more like something for a foyer. I like it a lot but am not sure if it would be right in a bedroom. I would buy several homes magazines and look through them at the bedrooms. I took my ceiling fan down in my bedroom many years ago and put in a chandelier. I love it. You need to be careful of the size of the chandelier for a bedroom. It should be considerably smaller than what you'd put somewhere else in the house.

I absolutely love both of the chandaliers you posted in the second set of chandaliers (the floral ones). I would go for the chrystal lamp for myself, but that is my taste. Both of the lamps are good. I once thought it would be fun choosing decor, paint, furnishings but when we built a new house and I got to decorate and furnish the whole thing choosing paint, floor coverings, furnishings, etc. it soon became a real chore! Thank goodness you have a good bit of time to work on it.

I agree about the one looking like a floyer chandelier. My bedroom is 13 by 14'7. It's good size. I read something that if you add the two dimensions together that would be the diameter of the chandelier you would want. I don't know how true they is. The bigger one with the floral is 24 inches. So If you add my room dimensions that's 27. So if what I read is correct it would be perfect.

I am glad I started thinking about what I wanted a long time ago. Because if I started right when we moved my room would look cheesy. I started out wanting a safari room and have come down to this. Lol

I think the idea of a chandelier in a bedroom is kind of cool, providing you do not get too large of one and it looks out of place, otherwise it sounds kind of cool.....I like the very last one, I believe you said it was from Pier One(one of absolute favorite stores)....I also like either of the lamps, both are fairly neutral, so can go in your bedroom even if you end up changing your bedding,wall color,etc........

I did look up how to find the right chandelier for your ceiling height and room dimensions. This seemed to be the right size. I really do love it. I hope I end up getting it. I don't know when we have to buy lighting. Probably not for a couple of months.

IMO

A chandelier goes in a dining room or a hallway.

I'm no decorator, but a small one over a dressing table or in a foyer (looks like shabby chic) might be ok.

For me, I might enjoy having one in a bath or powder room.

But I think it depends what look you are going for.....If you want a more eclectic look I'd choose the crystal.....or a more tied in traditional look to go with your furniture and paintings then I'd go with the cream carriage house lamp.

JMHO but I think you need a large bedroom for the chandeliers or they will be the focual point and take away from the other elements in the room..........

Sorry here is a picture with the comforter. My comforter actually comes tomorrow.
