Rejuvenating Solar Lights.

I was doing some spring cleaning around my yard and I noticed my solar path lights needed some cleaning. So I wiped them all down and put some new batteries in them. The solar panels were looking very bad like they had oxidized, much like some automobile headlights do when they get old and cloudy. Solar panels don't work well when they get cloudy like this and it makes them less efficient.

While watching a Q show the other day I saw this Rejuvenate Restorer product for outdoor use and it was an epiphany! I have used the other indoor stuff before and I love it. So I decided to buy the outdoor version and put it on my solar light panels. WOW!! It cleared them up so well that they almost look like new again and they will probably be more efficient, too.

@SilleeMee- I just took some spray cleaner and cleaned mine the other day - they were totally muddy from all the rain. They are much brighter now at night.

I cleaned mine, too, with window cleaner @hoosieroriginal. But mine are kind of old and the panels were badly oxidized and I noticed they didn't stay on very long at night. The Rejuvenate made the panels clear and shiny...like new.

Huge difference there, i was at home depot this weekend ,and took a look ar solar lights, they did not have many choices.

Wow, that's a great idea! My patio is full of those lights (mostly the color changing type, since I have no pathway). I may have to try your idea.

Mine look like yours. Mine sit under snow for long periods every winter. It didn't occur to me that they could be restored like new. Thanks for the tip.

Thank you! I have never heard of this stuff and saw this post this morning. Today I was going to tear aprt my big umbrella base and repaint it and painting it was not my first choice. I ordered some and am going to try this.

I just wanted to say THANK YOU! I got this stuff today and already cleaned my solar lights. They look brand new and I did a portion of my umbrella base and it looks so much better. I thought it might come out a little darker but I only did a quick couple of rubs on a piece of it to see how it went. I scrubbed the rest of the base down and am waiting for it to dry so I can start applying it. I am going to go over it a few times.

I would never have known about this if it hadn"t been mentioned here.

Wow, I'm so glad it worked out for you @ChrissyKR . I think putting on more than one coat is a good idea because it makes it shine and the color gets darker, too. I wiped on three coats over my solar lights and they look almost like new again. Hope your umbrella base turns out spectacular!

I have gone over the whole umbrella mutiple times and it looks......Amazing!

I ditched the mitt and used a microfiber cloth (you need to wear gloves don't ask me how I found this out) the mitt has a plastic liner to protect your hands. I poured some right onto the base and swished it around with my hand and let it set for a few minutes then used the cloth. I did this a few times and it really worked well. I ran around my yard all evening finding stuff to spiff up. I am already thinking of grabbing another bottle.
