The Cooking Buddy is totally different than the Moppine, and the Cooking Buddy is way better.

I have both, and I don't even use the Moppine. It is too short, no silicone, so you get burned if you hold something too long, and it is too short. It doesn't have the width to pick up large pans out of the oven.

I got my first Cooking Buddy for Christmas this past year, and ordered the patriotic one today. I got one for my mom as well. I'm hoping they come out with fall colors and designs, and hope they get the solid colors back in stock again.

I don't ever want to be without these. I use them for taking pots off the stove and draining, taking small or large things out of the oven. I've never had any type of oven mitt or pot holder that worked in all applications the way the Cooking Buddy does. Best part, it hangs on the oven door, so I never have to go searching for it, and with a two in one concept, I am never looking for the second mitt to remove something from the oven either.

Why would anyone risk burns with kitchen towels? That is not a safe way to move hot pans from stove tops or ovens. Anyone who hasn't tried these, should really reconsider. You have no idea what your are missing. They are well worth the price, and the basic color ones are available on ebay for much less money.

Well the my buddy one's look a lot better, the silicone in them is definitely a step up.

My Mother had some 'double potholders' which were probably the first to be reworked over the years.

I use silicone pot holders and just wash them in the dishwasher, which is a plus for me.

When I saw it I thought it looked like it would work good. I'd have ordered but I'm trying to cut back on spending for a couple weeks. I did tell my husband they were on my to buy list though.

I personally don't like my silicone potholders for getting stuff out of the oven. They work ok with sheet pans but are horrible with cake and loaf pans. I have one pair of traditional full hand pot holders that still work. I've burned myself by accidentally picking up a kitchen towel with a damp spot.

I've burned myself by accidentally picking up a kitchen towel with a damp spot.

That is so easy to do, and I have done it as well. When a towel is damp or wet, that heat transfers so quickly!

When I first saw these Cooking Buddies, I thought it might not work based on my experience with the Moppine, but it really is a whole different thing.

I think we all get used to something that works for us, and hesitate to try something new, but I got one of these as a Christmas gift, and although not the fanciest or most expensive thing I got, I think I like it the very best. I have always used oven mitts, the longer ones that go well up over the wrist, and thought that was just fine. But after one washing, even with nice thick more expensive ones, they get thin and I can feel the heat transfer easier.

The silicone on theses really does the trick, the hand pockets are nice and deep, and the length of the 'towel' in between is long enough for even the biggest pans I need to move. I have never washed mine, so don't know for sure how well they hold up afterward, but at this point, as I've stated before, I don't want to be without these.
