Penzey's is just the greatest

I broke my ankle a few weeks ago on our wonderful Michigan ice and I've been pretty much confined to a chair most of the time. I knew I had received a Penzey's catalogue that offered a free coffee mug with a code and a certain sized order, but I couldn't get around the house to find it. So I had visions of my free coffee mug going out of stock before I get my walking cast. I emailed Penzey's to hopefully ask for a code and they promptly called my house and took the order over the phone. So I'm getting my free roasted garlic as well as my free mug. I am so grateful, the least I can do is let others know how good these people are to deal with.

They are pretty great! I never heard of them until here on the Q board, as there are no stores anywhere near me.

One time, after I had placed an order, I remembered that I wanted to see about purchasing a couple of replacement skrew-on lids. So I contacted them and the nice lady said she could grab my order and add them in. I asked if she could just charge me on the order or if I should re-submit my card. She said 'no worries - no charge'.

So, I got my order and she had tossed in several lids for EACH size! That's above and beyond. I NEVER ask for anything for free so when a company is like that I have great appreciation.

I've had numerous companies over recent years treat me that way and they have my unending support. I think another thing that it makes crystal clear is that if you are nice to others, most of them will be nice back. I like nice people.

That sure was nice of them. There is a Penzy's in my town and I keep meaning to check it out. Maybe I'll move that up on my list of things to do.

Not only are they great people to do business with -- both in person and on-line, I think that their spices are the best out there! Since I 'discovered" them, I have not bought any other brand.

WOW Depglass---thanks for sharing such a great customer service experience. I LOVE Penzey's and have ordered from them for years. My order and mug is in the mail now---got the new roasted garlic in my last order and really like it!

Fantastic. I just received my apple pie spices and mug last week with my order. It's a cute mug and I christened it with its first cup of tea the other night. I got the roasted garlic at the beginning of the promotion, but haven't used it yet. I've been ordering so much from them lately that I'm way behind in trying some of the new spices, LOL. All I know is that it smells heavenly!

P.S. I hope your ankle heals very quickly and that you feel better soon.

If you order the large bags of spices-you really save some money. I always buy my Penzey's cocoa in bags and store it in an old Hershey's cocoa canister. I reuse my small glass jars and use small mason jars to store their spices.

I LOVE Penzey's too- i have never heard anyone who had a bad experience with them- I once placed n order to be sen to my son, in another state, and as I was tracking its progress, i could see that it hd gone horribly wrong, it was apparent that it would never reach him..

They were so kind, and sent another order out immediately no questions asked- They actually CARED that he should receive a perfect order...

Yes, and I must say he really walks the walk.. His company really reflects his wonderful values, and not many can say that!

Depglass so sorry you fell, and I hope you feel better and mend quickly.

Pendry's has been a wonderful establishment to buy from as their professional very knowledgeable customer service reps are the best.

Each Pendry store has an assortment of many spices as well as other food items and unique specialty kitchenware and other items too.

I usually buy in person and I always buy in bulk form, because I love their spices and there is no other store like Penzey's as it is very unique and their spices are always very fresh and fragrant.

Using their catalog to place orders is great but if you are ever near one of their stores do go in and browse, as what you see in person is a totally different experience from shopping on the net, or by telephone.

Enjoy your free items and please keep us informed as to how you are coming along depglass, and I hope you have others attend to your needs until your ankle heals, and also make sure the upcoming holidays are also enjoyable for you.

Depglass, I hope you get better soon! That must be so frustrating.

I really love Penzey's. We're lucky to have a store in our town, that opened a few years ago. Before that, I relied on mail orders. Now, I send my DH, with a list, and the nice ladies that work there fill the order! He says they are friendly and very efficient.

I love to open a jar of Penzey's spices - the aroma jumps out at you. I often substitute Penzey's dried herbs for fresh herbs in a recipe, and the recipes turn out fine. I can't afford to buy several fresh herbs - at $3-$4 a piece - for a single recipe.

I feel my cooking went up a notch in quality when I started using Penzey's spices. And the amazing thing is that they aren't expensive (IMO).

Hi Phoenix, I recently placed my first Penzey's order & it should be arriving any day now so I haven't actually tried any of their spices yet.

There is, however, another recent thread "Penzey's Shipping Deal" (or something like that) you may want to check out. Some seasoned Penzey's shoppers offered their favorites there.
