how do you clean the outside of a crock-pot?

Hi all!

The outside of my crock-pot is not too nice looking anymore. It's not really stained, but looks smudged or something. I don't know what it's made of-it looks like stainless steel but I'm guessing it's aluminum?

Anyone have any ideas on how to best clean this? My goal is to get it shiny again.

Do you still have the book that came with it, usually they have recommendations. I'd be wary of using anything too harsh without knowing if it's SS or aluminum...

Dawn? I've always just used Dawn and elbow grease.

First ry just a microfiber towel and hot water- that usually works for me...I sometimes use WD -40 on stainless...

I swear by a microfiber cleaning cloth with warm water. Then I will add some Dawn to it to work on the tough spots. I've used that BarKeepers Friend and Astonish cleaner on some of my stainless steel/aluminum items and it works well.

Soaking in hot water and baking soda may help,but I do not know about restoring the shine.

Do you know there are crock pot liners? I use them every time and they are great. Usually forund near plastic wrap and things like that.

I love those liners too and would not cook anything in the crock pot again without them!

She is talking about the outside of the crockpot, not the inside.

Elbow grease and 409 spray is what I have always used to get stains and such off.

I'm another who uses a microfiber cloth and water. If there's anything on there that won't get off, I use the same kitchen counter cleaner I use on my stove top and counters with the same microfiber cloth.
