Hi Shelbelle nice to meet you and Sunshine45 too. If you're in the area you may want to check out Duesenberg's Great breakfast/brunch or Thai Amora in Ellicott City and the old stand by for crab cakes G & M's. Have a Great week and stay safe with all the ice, sleet and snow Marty Bass is calling for.

As a Marylander, I can say they dont look good to me for several reasons.. We broil ours, never fry, 3 oz is very tiny for a decent crab cake, we get 8 oz ones here in our restaurants. And $9 a piece for those small bites is ridiculous. We also buy a pound of crab meat fresh here and make our own, secret ingredients is Old Bay seasoning. I think callers who rave about them really dont have a clue what a true MD crab cake really looks and tastes like. You can order them by mail from many of our local seafood restaurants , and get authentic ones.

Hi!

No doubt, they look AMAZING as presented... But, as a born and raised Long Island fresh-from-the-ocean-seafood girl, I feel that I am uniquely entitled to review this item. Uhhh... No. As good as these looked, even I was fooled. While they look luscious and creamy, they are actually dry and fishy when received and prepared per the enclosed cooking instructions. My family and friends barely touched them. Just my opinion, but these are absolutely not worth ordering.

These are definitely NOT Maryland style crab cakes and are never claimed as such. They are very clear in all presentations that these are different...with a roux. And a crunchy Panko coating. They are delicious. We have ordered the them for years. The pieces of crab are huge, the roux is delightfully flavored and creamy. No fishy smell or taste. The coating is crunchy. They bake so easy in the oven. If you prefer Maryland style...these are not for you. They both have crab. IMHO that is the only similarity. You shouldn't expect the same texture or taste.

However, last night at 10:00 DH was asleep and I was flipping channels. Since we get five or six QVC channels on our Directv setup I flipped into the beginning of the crab cake segment on ITKWKD, and since I really like those, I watched for a few. At exactly 10:05 in the presentation, David broke a crab cake in half and poked one of the halves into his mouth. He did comment that he doesn't care much for seafood, but he did eat half a crab cake. Apparently you missed it.

And then I flipped on - finally hit on Golden Girls, and then fell sleep.

They are not Maryland type crab cakes, which are excellent when well made. They are the vendor's and his mom's version of deviled crab which was popular in NY/NJ area and might have started in the era of Delmonico's restaurant in NYC. The style is quite different than the MD crabs. It has some mustard in the roux which is what makes it "deviled." I haven't tried this particular brand so I can't say anything about the quality or taste.

IF YOU HAVE A SQUMISH STOMACH - DON'T READ THIS..................

In December I split a box of ten with my neighbor - mine were okay, wouldn't order again, but neighbor found a clump of blond hair in the bottom of one cake. I called customer service when Bobby was on TV - they refunded my money - but I won't buy again for several reasons. (smaller than expected - drier than expected - too pricey for what you get)

Thank you, also, for helping me make the decision regarding to buy or not to buy---I just saved $100 .
