Hi Txblond, the container when it is upside down will drip a drop or two UNTIL I put it into place and I have not seen anything other than water on the oven sides (inside walls) and the black water collecting tray under the oven.

As far as pork tenderloin I use 350F steam Bake and I finish it about 138-142 (accounting for temp rise after completion(resting) to final temp of 145F +/- 2F.

Typically when I am preparing the tenderloin via sous vide I will use a water temp of 138F(135F-140F) for 4-6 hrs (depending on thickness).

Got the Oven & have it set up to go - my first question is.....How do I fix the Lobster - the book really doesn't help, except to use "super steam". Could you tell me how you do yours, please? I have never bought Lobster or prepared one.

Hi Txblond,

I used cold water lobster tails typically 4-5 oz each that were frozen but I thawed them out first. I then cut the shell down the middle with Kuhn Rikon shears (easiest of any I have) and then got the lobster meat out and used a little Old Bay and a pat of butter on them and laid them in a small 8x8 pan. I then cooked them with supersteam at 220F for 3 minutes and their internal temp should be at least 135F. If not try only 1 minute at a time more..

4uthebest - Thanks for the Lobster info. I haven't had a chance to experiment much with my new Oven, but maybe the coming week will be better. The weather has been such a mess around the DFW area, haven't even been to the Groc. store.

I do plan on trying Brown Rice in the oven this eve., using the instructions in the book. I'm sure I will be seeking your advice on different things as I go along. I just use 1 cup of rice, since there are only two of us- will adjust the water accordingly, of course.

By the way, does the little "burner" icon on your oven display illuminate in any way? The book says its supposed to, but my icon doesn't change.

Feel free to let me know anything you think will be helpful - I look forward to the input.

Hi 4uthebest- My brown rice & cauliflower I steamed in the oven came out real good. I made the Smothered Chicken in the little WP rice maker to have with the rest of it & was pleased with all.

I wanted to ask if you had ever done a Pork Tenderloin in the oven. I buy a whole one & then cut it in half, since its just for DH & me. Not sure which program to use.

Also, do you ever find any small puddles of water on the oven floor after steaming? Not a big problem, but just wanted to know if that was normal.

Hope you had a nice weekend!

Pork Tenderloin I would do in the steam bake mode --and finish it in steam broil.

Sure I always have a bit of water on the floor when using steam functions and pans that do not completely cover all the rack area. Of course the bottom tray which is made to catch water will always have some water when using any steam functions.

When you use self clean steam 210F 30 min (default setting) you will have water on all surfaces to wipe down.

BTW I virtually never cook to time and always to temperature and I want the internal temp of my pork loin to be 145F +/- 2 degrees.

4uthebest - Thanks for the info on the Pork Tenderloin - I hope to try it over the weekend. We have been eating leftovers for the last couple of days - still good. Using the temp. to judge when the meat is done is a good tip.

Just out of curiosity - why did you return two of the WP Ovens? It seems to have good reviews.

I called WP support and they were nice but told me that in order to get door to shut I needed to unplug and wait 30 seconds and plug in and then set program and restart) This worked but it would not work with me as I cook to temperature so I would check before time I set.

O.K. Sounds like you got a "lemon" the first time - the second time was a matter of choice. I would sure like to check out the WP & see which Oven I liked best. The Cuisinart does a good job, so far, but I sure don't like the amount of water I have to clean up after steaming.

I would have to return the Cuisinart in order to try out the WP, since I used an in-store credit card on it, or else just buy a WP & use the 20% off. Gets kinda complicated - LOL. Don't know if I could manage to get the WP up to the stand it would sit on - I imagine it is heavier to lift than the Cuisinart. I'm just so curious to compare the two ovens.

Will keep you informed. If you think of anything to add, let me know - thanks!

I never heard any noise particularly like a sizzle. Perhaps yours was damaged in transit?

I just super steamed some frozen green beans for 4 min at 225F and there was very little on the walls and not even that much in the black tray.

I love the Optigrill and only sous vide can hold a candle to how it does chicken breasts.

Txblond, I just finished the Pasta/Sauce and there was about 2 oz of water in the cooking container which I mixed with the pasta and sauce and it was perfect consistency. Cleaned door with 1/2 Bounty and there was about 3 tablespoons in the water collection tray.

By the way my little boy (Frito) loved the pasta sauce as he licked my finger clean and then wanted more..

4uthebest, The first time I used the oven after I got it, I made the brown rice with the Super Steam. At first, it was steaming real good, then all of a sudden quit the steam. I stopped the cycle, looked in the tray & there was some water & a little white object I thought looked like a worm. So, emptied the tray out & started the cycle again & it steamed just fine. I think that white object maybe had stopped up the steamer. Anyway, haven't had any more trouble with it not steaming. I reheat stuff using the steam & also steamed some vegetables at the time & temp. the book suggested. Each time I use it, I get that sort of whistling or sizzling sound until it dries out completely - weird. Sounds like I just have a lot of excess water than you do.

So your little boy, Frito loved the Pasta Sauce - haha. I'm assuming Frito is a little dog? We have a Cairn Terrier who loves anything & everything connected with food - her name is Dixie. She's a southern gal.

Hi 4uthebest - My apologies to Frito for calling him a dog. I'll bet he's a pretty little guy.

I checked out my oven yesterday & it quit steaming on me - then tried it again today & it steamed just fine. I will try it for awhile longer & if it quits on me again, I will exchange it. I like the oven - just want one that works correctly. Have you done anything new in yours lately?
