Miracle Meatloaf Pan

I just watched the demo with the sound muted so I didn't know what they were stuffing it with (except the cheese). It was the most disgusting food demo ever. First, it looked like they said "how can we make this meatloaf MORE fatty and gutbusting?" Then when they cut into it and revealed the inside, it looked like some creature was wounded and bleeding. I can see why the pan was on clearance because everything looked unappetizing. The fact that they poured grease out of the pan didn't prove anything because I have poured grease out of a pan after I have cooked meatloaf.

Yeah, and the little boy who cried wolf made his point too, but after he DID, no one every believed him or paid attention to him again...

You don't need to shock or disgust people to make a point, make it, then move on- we are all adults and know, by now, what we find disgusting..

STRANGE........forum swallowed my posting before I finished..............back to spoons

WITHOUT the center void impression (hole for cheese or other fillers). If you're trying to avoid grease - this pan is wonderful as it sits up off the bottom - then just life the tray to remove meat and leave the grease behind. P.S. you don't have to use filler products in the center of ML.

I have seen that pan demoed a few times....and it doesn't really look disgusting...fatty for sure...but not disgusting...the only thing I thought didn't look too appealing...was the lunch meat and cheese...seemed like way too much and would be difficult to eat..

I don't know why you couldn't partially fill a regular meatloaf pan half full, put in a stuffing, and then put more meatloaf mixture on top. For stuffing I would suggest a nice spinach/cheese/rice filling rather than a wounded creature.

I just received this pan. I needed a meatloaf pan anyway and the price was good.

I like the idea of having the lid to make a good, neat cavity to add a stuffing. You can add whatever you like. No need to use their recipes if they offend your sensibilities. The olive, feta and spinach stuffing sounds good to me and not so calorie-laden as some of the other recipes.

I have made stuffed meatloaf for many many years without the convenience of this pan- Just like I have made hardboiled eggs without the Eggspress, but if it can make it easier and give people new ideas for what to do for dinner, what is the harm of it?

They are like the "fatties" that we make for the smoker...

That is exactly what I do. I use ground turkey flavored with garlic powder, egg, bread crumbs, and some ketchup with mozzarella and a pack of thawed chopped spinach for filling. Very tasty and not fatty.

Yeah, really! I'm not big on meatloaf, not having made one for eons, but it's pretty simple if you want to put something in the middle.

I would agree that the presentation was kind of gross. Also, I watched it just out of curiosity as to how that thing worked since it was such a strange-looking piece. During the presentation that I saw they never covered that. One time the vendor started to show how it worked and was interrupted by the host for some reason or another and it never got back to that.

Seems like they always make everything SEEM so complicated that no mere human could do the (whatever - du jour) task without purchasing the silly gadget they're selling. That's always good for a laugh.

Geez, I've had a similar item for many years now....sans the lid. It's just a two-piece pan, nothing fancy. The top pan has holes in it and that's where you put the meat loaf. As the meatloaf bakes, the grease and fat fall through the holes into the bottom pan. It really does work. When DH makes meatloaf (he's the meatloaf maker and he also does our hamburgers and meatballs), he always uses this pan. When he wants to "stuff" the meatloaf, he simply uses his (gloved) hand to make a indentation in half the mixture, puts in the stuffing and then pats the rest of the mixture around the stuffing into the pan. He has a similar gadget for when he wants to make stuffed burgers. (He likes his gadgets sometimes and I like his meatloaf and his burgers, so it works. )

I don't understand the big deal about it, but didn't see the presentation.

Hi Pamela! As mentioned in the thread, this is a pan that has some kind of insert that allows you to put stuff into the middle of the meatloaf, so that's quite different from the one with the insert that allows the excess fat to drain out.

Well, you didn't miss anything! Even though I didn't have any interest in this item I watched one presentation because I was curious as to how this thing worked. It had this weird-looking piece and it was not immediately clear as to how it worked. But they never got around to explaining that in the presentation I watched so it was pretty much a waste of time anyway.

I think we all know how to put something in the middle of a blob of meat without that. hehe But they make it sound like it couldn't be done unless you buy this thing.

Oh, and no apology necessary. I just wanted to let you know what this item was vs what you thought it was. BTW, I also have one of those pans with the insert that has the holes in it. I must have gotten it years ago in a Cook's Essentials set of bakeware. I've never used the insert. I just use the outer pan as a loaf pan for quick breads because it's the exact size of a standard loaf pan.
