My brother in law refused to eat leftovers anymore. He grew up in a very poor family and ate them all the time. He worked his butt off and now owns a very successful business and it worth a lot and he absolutely refuses to eat left overs now. He won't even eatThanksgiving left overs. I think it is a little hard core but he did experience a very very tough upbringing so I can't really blame him as I haven't walked in his shoes.

I know several women who say their husbands refuse to eat leftovers. I just do not understand this! What do they do with the good leftover food, toss it??? Is everyday a new main course and meal?? Seems ridiculous to me!! I purposely make enough for at least two meals. How did the spoiled husband ever get this way???

Me, I can't stand left overs...ewwwwww but on the other hand my husband eats absolutely everything and refuses to ever throw anything out. He will eat something even if it's been sitting in the fridge 2 weeks. YUCK YUCK YUCK. If cheese turns green he just cuts if off and eats the rest, he's gross. Actually food doesn't interest me all that much, I am one of those that eat to live and not the other way around. We are complete opposites.

This is funny.

I HATE my leftovers but like other peoples leftovers lol. I think maybe its the different cooking I like.

I will eat leftovers only( and only) up until the end of the next day. If I have any more I toss it out. The only exception is maybe my buffalo chicken mac and cheese.

For some reason i can not freeze food. For example I made roast beef last week. I am 1 person and it was a 4 pounder so I froze the left overs, used a straw to su*k out all the air of the freezer safe bag. I reheated it yesterday and it looked good and the meat was actually more tender now but after i ate it my stomach felt sour and I forced myself to throw up.

So basically If i cook ill only make enough to last for breakfast and dinner the next day.

My BIL makes a big deal about not eating leftovers. But, he skips a lot of family meals with my parents, and asks his wife to bring him a plate, because he loves Mom's cooking. To me, that's him asking for a plate of leftovers. LOL!

Myself, I love leftovers. I live alone, and I make plenty for "planned overs" so I don't have to do as much cooking.

I'm the exact opposite of kcladyz - I will eat leftovers from food I made, but probably not from somebody else. For perspective, do know that I'm very food-neurotic. I have many, many food rules.

My husband, like probably many men, will eat pretty much anything. He will eat the same thing day after day for weeks. I can't do that. I get bored.

I'm also HUGE on proper food storage (for reasons relating to the rest of my food neuroses) so if it's something I have stored, I know it's ok, but I will also use it up quickly as I do have a 'thing' about old/moldy/rotten food (also for the same reasons re: childhood horrors).

Not use good leftovers? How silly. Using leftovers is part of our regular meal plan. Sometimes leftovers reappear to be reheated for the second time around as is. Often, they are used in new meals in different ways -- leftover meat or chicken in sandwiches or a casserole, leftover veggies in a soup, leftover ham and veggies in an omelet, or whatever creativity stirs up. It's a shame to waste good food, and there are usually creative and delicious ways to use it. If leftovers are incorporated in something different from the way they were originally served, the family often doesn't even know they're leftovers! I'm really irritated with myself if I don't use food before it needs to be thrown out, and I rarely let it happen.

We love leftovers at our house, but when I cook, I cook enough to plan for them. Food is much more flavorful the next day. Since we have excellent refrigeration, freezing and storage equipment, it makes no sense to throw food away.

People who won't eat them must not know that when they eat at most restaurants, it's essentially the same thing. Main courses, cooked and frozen in a factory type place, heated up, and served. It's very rare for a restaurant to cook from scratch these days.

When our kids were growing up, we never had any leftovers because they ate it all. My son however, after getting married, refused to eat leftovers. He eventually caught on to how much money he was throwing in the trash, and now likes leftovers, and takes them for his lunch the next day.

People who talk about old moldy food don't get it. I would never even keep food long enough to get questionable. People who have anything like that need to learn how to clean their fridge out every few days. Usually, our leftovers are eaten in the next day or two, and planned!

If I cook something, I'll usually have the next day, too, and maybe the day after that. But by the fourth day, I'm over it.

And if a block of cheese has a little bit of mold on it, yes, I'll cut the moldy part off, and use the rest. After all, that part is still good. After all, it's not like the whole block is moldy.

My husband's favorite "meal" is leftovers. I love having something already made, to eat cold or re-heat. If I don't use the leftovers in the original way, I'll transform them into something new. Great for lunches, too. And a roast chicken or ham - what a great thing to have around to make new meals from. I'll stick 'em in the freezer if I can't use right away. I can't imagine starting fresh with everything, every day. Pasta salad? Potato salad? Tastes better the next day! Sauces, salad dressings, same. Cold pizza? Yum.

My husband is spoiled because I make great dishes every day. I plan my pantry on the likelihood of leftovers.
