I agree.

In general, Amazon has the lowest prices that I've found for new books. I also love Barnes & Noble, and I will purchase books there on occasion, but even their books are pricier. For instance, I really wanted this particular cookbook. Bought it at B&N, and even with my member discount, it was over $20. I was not on my game when I purchased it and later checked Amazon and the same book-a newer release--was $15. A good $7 less.

Does anyone buy books on QVC? If there is a book I'm interested I will go to Amazon to find the book. I can read the reviews and see if I like it rather than rely on the Q's pitch. Books on Amazon are cheaper and if you are a prime member they ship for free.

And this is why QVC offers a limited product selection -- people watch presentations on QVC and then shop elsewhere. This is why they focus on house brands and other products on which they can offer exclusive deals or easy pay.

This is not a criticism of the posters. I do the same thing.

Everything is reviewed on Amazon.com. So...I read customer reviews before I buy anything. And then I shop around. Kindle ebooks are the only things I buy from Amazon. I bought Joan's books from q. Autographed! And some cookbooks.

I buy books on Amazon. The prices are generally higher on QVC and then there is the S&H. S&H is free after $35 on Amazon (we all know it used to be $25) and it is pretty easy to hit $35.

ETA that I should have mentioned that I also get a lot of Kindle books from Amazon, mostly free. When I do purchase books, they are mostly as gifts for family members. Books they have mentioned they wanted.

Our public library has a wonderful attached used bookstore and I have gotten some great deals there! Several weeks ago they were selling all hard cover Janet Evanovich books for 50 cents....50 cents for hard cover! Most were like new, too. So, I was able to add to my collection.

Take it out from the library first to see if you even want to own it.

Then check Amazon and Half.com to see where you want to buy it. Lately, I have been getting some books cheaper at Half.com than at Amazon...

I love Amazon! I rarely buy books from anyplace else (except Ollie's), and that includes textbooks. Once in a while I'll go to a local used bookstore, largely because books that haven't sold within a certain time frame get put in one of several large bins outside and are free for the taking, but if I'm looking for something in particular, Amazon is always the first place I go. I also love the fact that if you've already bought a book it tells you at the top of the page; I've avoided duplicating more than once because of that feature.

Ollie's had great prices on cookbooks, and a few months ago I found a cookbook there for $3.99 that I had recently gotten at Amazon for almost $15. I decided to return the book to Amazon, since Prime returns are free, and $10 is $10. They asked why I was returning it, and when I indicated that I had found it much cheaper elsewhere they told me to keep the book and they'd credit my account for the full price, since I was such a good customer.

Great customer service! I buy all my books on Amazon and a lot of our son's school books, too. I love getting recommendations from "those who purchased also purchased" and have found a lot of great books that way. With the free shipping ($35 minimum) I usually get the books within 5 business days or sometimes less. I love the duplication prevention, too, as I have yet to catalog my collection and have often nearly purchased duplications.

That said, I still love to browse in a book store and will always find something to buy. I love the bargain sections at Barnes where they often have cookbooks and coffee table books at great prices.

My husband finally gave up on trying to get me to switch to an e reader. I love the physical nature of a book, especially how they smell. I also don't care for library books for reasons I won't get into. Buying books is my one vice in life!
