Pouring Shield on Mixer

I have the bowl-lift, 6 qt KA mixer from years ago. It came with a pouring shield. With the bowl-lift, I never needed the pouring shield, I guess it would be handy for very thin batters, that might spatter. Do you use your pouring shield?

It's for pouring stuff into the bowl while the mixer is running. I use it all the time.

I have had four KA mixers in my lifetime and the pouring shield has been used maybe twice. I don't even know where they are. I just inherited the first mixer back but that wasn't with it.

You need all the help you can get when you only have a couple inches between the motor head and the bowl.

When I had a kitchen aid I never used. Got Cuisinart now. only time I think would be good would be when working with powdered sugar. That stuff drifts and blows. LOL

I always use mine. I love it. I am a messy cook anyway, so anything that cuts down on my mess is good.

Same here, but mine is the 2 piece and sometimes it is hard to attach. Mine was a separate purchase. My KA was from Target.

I have the Professional 600 - 575 Watt Mogador of Kitchenaid Mixers (Lift) and yes I use the pouring shield when I mix loose mixtures, I think it's great!

Q4U- I have the same mixer, but never use the pouring shield- is yours the two piece one? I find it awkward to use and usually just fold a piece of parchment or a cheap paper plate and "pour" stuff in that way...

The one piece, I might actually use!

I only used it once or twice. I find it clumsy and it's just another thing to wash.

I use it all the time. It is a ""mess saver"" for me. My KA did not come with it and I purchased mine separately after the first big mess in my kitchen. Love it!

I use mine all the time for adding flour incrementally to bread dough. Also for adding egg yolks and other ingredients. I find that it saves spatters.
