I think even the thickest is only 6mm, which is thin. Thickest I've ever seen was 8 mm but it wasn't a kitchenaid.

This is my first new food processor in over 30 years and I want to love it, but I must be doing something wrong. I tried to slice some zucchini for a stir fry last evening and my slices came out paper-thin. I know that there are several thicknesses that I can choose from and had mine set to the thickest - - so any thoughts or suggestions on what I might have done wrong? I thought I read the booklet and put the pieces together correctly. Thanks in advance.

benzgirl.....I had the same thing happen when I tried the slicing disc. The potatoes only sliced thin & I had it set to the thick setting. This what I did & works great. Attach your bowl to the machine.....put the drive adapter in the bowl.......attach the slicing adapter to the slicing disc & lock it in......then put it in the bowl on top of the drive adapter. Put the lid on & the food food pusher.....Hope this works for you. Love the processor. It certainly has a learning curve to it. Wish they had a vides on QVC on how to put everything together.

The machine certainly does have a bit of a learning curve, but I will try what you suggest when I use it again this evening. I wish it came with a video for the same reason as you! I viewed several You Tube videos trying to see what I might be doing wrong - so wish me luck. Thanks again.

Actually it is in food processor terms quite thick. It is 1/4" When I do my chips on a mandolin I try to keep them between .5 and 1.0 mm thick.

I also had a problem with the slicer adjustment. Mine didn't change at all between the thin and the thick setting. I took it out and played around with the center disc of the blade that is on like a spring. I'm hoping it loosens up a bit with more use just as the lids going off and on did. I love this machine!! Too bad it's for my daughter and not mine

Don't be afraid to call Kitchen aid! I was not a happy camper when I got mine: I struggled and struggled to make the top (the part that has the feed tube) fit the bottom. Every word of profanity that I knew was coming out of my mouth! I was ready to pack it up and send it back- and then I thought to call Customer Service. It turned out it was a silly gasket (red) that nobody needs anyway.....I have not had problems with the slicer, but I am sure Customer Service could help. Poodlepet2
