KitchenAid Food Processor~!! Wow!

I had a feeling this item would wow me, but let me say for the record that it has literally taken my breath away. I'm not a stranger to Kitchenaid small appliances, have the Professional 600 575 mixer that sits on my counter with a crown on her head, she's so regal, the small hand held variety. Always been happy. But I was blown away with the sheer size of this (can't call it a gadget) product.

I haven't revved her up yet, but it's just a matter of time that I do. I have all the pieces out of the box and am going to use it tonight....

I wanted this baby two years ago and didn't spring for it. Instead I bought a genius chopper, which for the life of me, I can't get to chop unless I chop the item up before I chop it, otherwise it takes my full strength, my body weight and the luck of the Irish to get the food to go through it! I used to just chop by hand but my hands are not cooperating like they used to and I'm frustrated. I won't be anymore! Holy Potato wedges!

Big Salads all summer long, stews, lots of soups... I'm going to be a Kitchenaid Madwoman!

Have you gotten yours? Whatdoyathink??

Really? No other Wows??

I'm floored.

Look in your messages (maybe in Junk) but QVC sent a video and it's pretty good. Yes, there's a lot of attachments but don't let that overwhelm you, the directions are pretty basic and you just have a lot to choose from.

I got a KA food processor as a wedding gift in 2000. I just loved it. I finally gave it to my daughter when my husband bought me a Ninja Mega System. Unfortunately i wish I still had it whenever I need to shred or slice something. I was contemplating buying another ine this week when I sliced a piece of my thumb off with a mandolyn, you won't be disappointed, just dont by a Kitchen Aid blender.

I'm not a weakling, but I found it near impossible to use if you took several hunks of celery and tried to do them all at once. I had the largest size Genius (looked like 4 qts?)... so by the time I cut the items down so that I could use the chopper, they were almost the size of what I wanted (not really, but far too much fussing and cutting prior to using it).

The eBay video is just a recipe video, but U-Tube has some instructional videos worth watching....

I'll keep my genius chopper. Some things I do want diced larger, but I agree it takes a lot of pressure to whack it down.

I was looking at the reviews and saw a lot of complaints about too many parts? Except for the dicer it's exactly the same as every other processor I've had. And the dicer's only 2 pieces.

Q4U I got my KA food processor last week and Sunday chopped and blended all day. There is a bit of a learning curve but the booklet that came with had a page which showed pic of if you pick this blade use this....after a few uses I know I won't need to refer to this but thought the instruction booklet was put together well. I almost did not purchase the processor because I was worried about the wattage but purchased knowing I could spend a mint and send it back if I needed to (had waited so long for all these features at decent price) but it did just fine first run, no problems. I got the add on blades with my purchase too. (something I'd always wanted) I guess only thing left is whipping attachment and ice blade? The dicer worked beautifully. Seconds to dice. My mother is very particular about the size of a cucumber in salad - this was perfect. (The dice looked bigger on TV - go figure) I also diced apple for an apple salad, grated carrot, and chopped pecans. a few minutes and done! I tried the FF blade to make celery sticks - yea, that one didn't work out so well and I killed a few green onion tops trying to slice them - white part of onion sliced well....the green part - not so much, or I should say mush..but I was being experimental - ya never know. I think I pressed to hard for radishes, I had on thinnest setting but they weren't so thin. And I,didn't press squash through slicer and they were thinner than I thought they should be...little technique needs to be applied here...no pressure thinner, pressure = thicker. I blended a large batch of humus and it handled very well. I also made some tatziki sauce in small bowl (I was determined to try everything) and liked that feature. The unit is large but is quite beautiful. The top lid is quite big and a little cumbersome. I read where someone used dice lid which is smaller - will have to try that. Every thing cleaned pretty easily. Yes there are lots (lots!) of parts but that's what allows you to do so many things. I enjoyed watching all the KA shows....their rep Laura? is great! Loved all the tips and ideas she shares. Diced butter for batches of pie crust...Loved! yea, I know.... but this is so much more FUN than manual dicing of frozen/melty butter.I haven't tried chopping herbs in small bowl yet. That will be another test for me. I grow my own and if I can throw in bowl and they don't get pulverized that will be very nice. I wish there had been a little book on recipes/ideas that would have come with but will turn to google. '

Yes I was excited about this purchase. Hoping it will rate right up there with my Vita mix and Ninja in the long run. (depending on what I'm doing I have favorite tools for the task) Hope you are enjoying yours. This weekend will be test run 2!

-Chi

I use my food processor (Kitchenaid) to chop up everything for meatloaf, add rest of ingredients except the meat. Mix with just the plastic blade. Then add hamburger and mix. It's as easy as it gets!

Doesn't turn that I can tell. Don't have much strength in my hands any longer couldn't pull it off. I wanted to wash all the parts today and the kit is still intact. Hints anyone.

Can you tell me how big the dice is? Based on the description it is 12 mm which, if I'm correct, is about a 3/4" dice. I don't usually use more than 1/2". I love the idea of it dicing for me and shredding cheese, but I'm not sure if it will be too big of a dice for me. Is this really a larger, 3/4" dice?

I bought a bag of onions at Costco and whipped through them in no time.

The base is half the weight of the 12 cup, whether that makes a difference or not, time will tell.

Probably thanks to the posts I've already read in here I didn't have a hard time getting the top on or off. I didn't oil the gasket either.

I also got the extra blades and an extra blade will not fit in the case.

I have the 12 cups also... and it is heavier than the new 13 cups..

The 12 cups is also 750 watts... The 13 cups is much less than that...

I will use the new 13 cups this weekend...

Bad news and good news, bad first..your calculations are off.. Good news 12mm is a .5mm short of 1/2" so you will be great with this attachment.

:-)

Now can you tell me HOW TO GET THE TOP OFF??? Directions are inside, do I have to pry it off? Doesn't turn that I can tell. Don't have much strength in my hands any longer couldn't pull it off. I wanted to wash all the parts today and the kit is still intact. Hints anyone.

It slides out. Just like when it's hookded up to the processor. Take a firm grip on the handle and turn the top clockwise.
