This is traditional in our family also.

A fresh apple crumble makes for a good dessert, unless you are serving apple sauce.

It's not totally homemade, but I get 2 boxes of jello cheesecake mix, prepare it in a 9x13 pan and top it off with cherry or blueberry pie filling. It's light, super easy and everyone loves it. Gone in a flash at Christmas and no one knows it's a box mix. If I use the cherry filling I add a little almond extract to the cheesecake mix. I make it ahead of time and freeze it, taking it out the day of the party to thaw. But add the pie filling before serving-don't freeze.

I also like the idea of an apple dessert. The directions for this Apple Lasagna recipe that Lilbitmissty provided states that the sour cream sauce is optional-- believe me, it's not! For me, it's one of the tastiest things about this recipe. I nver knew just these two ingredients could taste sooooo good!!!!..............vabreeze

Apple Lasagna

1 lightly beaten egg
2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
1 cup part-skim ricotta cheese
1/4 cup sugar
1 tsp almond extract
2 - 21 oz. cans apple pie filling (or make your own version)
6 lasagna noodles - cooked, rinsed and drained

Mix egg, cheeses, sugar and extract.

Thanks everyone for the suggestions. As it turns out I got lucky and one of the guests called to say she is bringing a cannoli cake. I don't know exactly what a cannoli cake is but I'm not one to look a gift horse in the mouth.

I thought the pina collada dessert sounded very good as did the raspberry parfaits and some others too.
