What kind/brand of bread/rolls will you be serving for Christmas? I've never made homemade and will not be making any this year so I will be buying some type of rolls.

I buy Pillsbury Crescent rolls, my husband's family makes yeast rolls from scratch. They both go down so fast with all the butter we put on that I can't tell the difference!

I had originally planned to make Pillsbury's Grands but when I went into my freezer to take out the crown roast, I noticed I still had a half bag of frozen oven ready rolls. I'm going with those.

Maria

I'm making a Sally Lunn to go with my dinner. It's a sweet yeast bread. So delicious. I make the dough in my bread machine, then shape and bake it in the oven in a smaller springform pan. If anybody is interested, I can provide the recipe. No frozen/canned rolls for me!

I love bread, but never serve it when there's so much food on the table, especially food that tends to be more sauce-laden, more buttery than my other meals.

It makes me feel bad and guilty....it was such a nice gesture...thoughtful.....I do not know what to do with it. .....

IQue -- I would be glad to share the recipe. I am making mine today. As I said, I make the dough in my bread machine on the "dough" cycle, then put it in a small round (8" or so) springform pan to bake. You could use any similar size (Temptations?) pan. But you need a pan with higher sides than a regular cake pan. It makes a lovely large loaf. Here's the recipe:

3/4 C. milk; 4 T. butter; 2 eggs; 2 tsp. salt; 1/3 C. sugar; 3-1/2 C. bread flour; 2 tsp. bread machine yeast. Process this mixture on the dough cycle. When done, put on flour-lined board and shape into a round shape. Put in Pam-sprayed pan, cover w/ plastic wrap & a kitchen towel and let rise (about 1 to 1 1/4 hrs.) Bake at 350 for about 30-35 minutes.

Let me know if I have left out any details (it's really easy!) This is a good dinner bread, great for sandwiches, and makes wonderful French toast. Merry Christmas!

I did see another recipe online by Southern Living. I was actually thinking about making half recipe . The ingredient amounts are slightly different. Since yours is a tried and true recipe I need to stick with that one. It sounds delicious. May use 2- 6 cup bundt pans. Thanks and Happy Holiday Baking!
