Trader Joe's Christmas Presents...

I always get the big chocolate bars for the mailman, UPS and news carrier.

I also bought some Belgian truffles for presents - and 3 boxes of Candy Cane JoJos for me - they are in the freezer now.

Anyone have any special items they use as gifts from Trader Joe's???

Yes, I like to give the dark chocolate, salted caramels as gifts...and keep a box for me!

Of course - you have to sample them to make sure they would be a good gift!

Trader Joe's has a lot of unusual boxed holiday goodies. I think that they make great (hostess) gifts as they are something different (AND delicious)! You could buy a wicker basket and put a few different items in them. I'd love to get this as a gift.

My daughter bought a tea sampler for a friend of hers who loves tea. Cute display, the teas came in vials like chemistry test tubes, very nice.

There's a new box of dark chocolate caramels available. A sampler which comes in a long, thin box of 12. Unusual centers like honey fig, blood orange, etc. I got one for my daughter.

I saw a three pack of different flavored olive oils that looked really good. I wish I'd bought it for myself lol. I'll have to go back and hope they still have them. I bought the chocolate oranges for my husband and sons stockings and the Belgian truffles for a couple of hostess gift. Also the amaretti cookies for my inlaws gift basket because they love them.

I bought the box of 3 hand creams to try after they were recommended on this forum. I really like how they soften and their fragrance. Would be a nice, inexpensive gift.

I like to bring the box of 4 different chocolate covered flavored joe-joe's to my boyfriend's Mom's house for x-mas. that and her favorite pinot noir. always a hit!

Great list! Don't forget the Pomegranate Body Butter for 5 dollars! The 3 pack of handcreams are just like L'Occitane. Ginger ale lovers-TJ's Triple Ginger brew in the old fashioned bottle. You can easily make foodie gifts with the gourmet cheeses, crackers, & wine. And keep a few items in the freezer for quick snacks/treats-the mini chicken pot pies, the Cookie Butter Cheesecake & mini croissants.

I just visited the closest Trader Joes yesterday - it's 30 miles away and I had some other appts in the area. I was surprised it wasn't a big store. I was still overwhelmed with the variety of products. And because everything has it's own Trader Joes label, everything looked different to me and a bit confusing. What I saw was LOTS of frozen, processed foods. I'm sure they're probably tasty and convenient for many, but I just don't cook that way. I did pick up two packages of frozen vegetables that were different than the run of the mill stuff in my local grocery store. Can't wait to try the roasted corn.

I also picked up a tin with three hot chocolate mix packages inside (I'm a sucker for anything in a tin). Tried the salted caramel hot chocolate today and wow, was it good. I did notice that many of the prices were a bit lower than I expected; such as an artisan crafted multi seed bread for $3.99, when I buy a similar bread at my local store for about $5. They also had good prices on nuts so I got some walnuts, pecans and pinenuts for the rest of my holiday baking.

Maybe I need to go back and take more time to explore as I didn't notice anything much extra special about it. What, exactly is their claim to fame? What am I missing?

I spent an hour there today checking out all the holiday goodies. I got chocolate covered marshmallows & minty chocolate marshmallows for a friend...$2.99 each for pretty festive boxes.

Then some English toffee, almond windmill cookies and a nice size tray of Italian holiday cookies for another friend.

Frozen lemon bars, pecan pie ice cream and English stilton with cranberries for me!!

I tried one of their Steak and Ale pies for dinner tonight....yum-o!

Sammijo, to me, the TJ's appeal is its large variety of unusual products (the only place I've ever seen Persian cucumbers!) at good prices. I especially love their cheese and wine departments. Plus, it's a fun, happy place to shop.

Stopping at Trader Joe's was my reward yesterday after going to the doctor.

I picked up several things for my house and for a friend who can't get out to shop. She loves the frozen croissants. I also got the candy cane JoJo's and took them to someone's house last night. Wish I'd gotten more boxes! I also got the Sweet Bites (I get them about twice a year.) They are small, small samplers of cake--and one flavor is a tiramusu!

They were giving samples of the cider--got it, too. Also the spinach/artichoke dip--samples. But, I warmed it up to take to my friend's house, and I thought it was overpowering in taste.
