I am not a big baker. I have always wanted a KitchenAid but couldnt justify buying one.

I did put myself on the wait list for grenadine. Common sense won out 3 days later and I cancelled my waitlist order.

I did however get a 30% off from Kohls. I am looking at the Artisan which is on sale for $349.99. With the $40 in Kohls Ca$h and the $50 rebate - I am looking at $155. Not bad. Now I may order.

I think they are pretty counter jewelry. I have no doubt they are quite useful, but in my kitchen, wooden spoons, whisks, hand potato masher, and knives work just fine.

I use mine a few times a week - more at the holidays for baking but , honestly, I would never buy one new, because I would not get my money's worth from it. i inherited mine from my Mom and it is about 70 years old.Still runs like a dream - probably better than the new ones!! Before my Mom died I just used my KA hand mixer and it did fine. I live in Fl so i did invest in a KA juicer attachment and I use that the most of all.

I agree with the OP on the counter jewelry point....LOL. I, too, am not a huge baker and as much as the color and glass bowl is appealing.......I have a Kenwood 700 watt stand mixer that we got as a wedding gift 20 years ago. The unit that I have more than meets my needs and it's stainless steel and black. It's a timeless design.

If you don't do a lot of baking, it probably doesn't make a lot of difference if you have one or not. I use my original KA all of the time, and just added the grenadine TSV to my kitchen small appliances. I'm looking forward to having both mixers going for Christmas baking. My DH is the one who suggested that I have a second KA.

If you are not really going to use it, you will be out the money and the space to store it. If I had to do it over again, I would of not gotten one. I got mine about 4 years ago and havent used it once. My hand mixer does just fine. I think if I had a bigger kitchen and could leave it out I would use it more but I dont do a lot of baking anymore. It depends on what your needs are but if it was me, I would look into their 9 speed hand mixer. I have been wanting this one but sure dont need it.

I am a very, very new cook, although I am 48. I have seen the stand mixers and wondered if they were something that I should have in my beginner cook kitchen. My husband loves baked goods, and I would like to bake about three times a week for him. But, I have a food processor already, so would I really need the stand mixer at all? I also have a Vitamix BTW and my food processor has dough hooks.
