Harry London Chocolate has disappeared from the QVC site

I wanted to re order some Harry London chocolate online and I was not able to. It has been poofed. Haven't called customer service, but as far as online ordering which is the only way I order, Harry London is history.

Gee, I ordered the TSV Nutcracker Set of Five with a ship week in early December. I hope I get it after reading your post. That was five gifts knocked off my list. I should probably check my order status.

Not sure about QVC inventory, but their storage warehouse in Cleveland had a huge fire. Not sure how much if any of the chocolate survived. May be hard to find this holiday season.

Their main distributing center burned to the ground yesterday. They have halted all business right now so that might have something to do with it.

I'm sure that they will either post something or email people who purchased future tins for gifts as soon as they know what the end result of this fire is going to be on existing orders and future orders.

I just called customer service and the girl said she didn't even know
about the fire. I told her to spread the word! I have the order for
Dec. 12. I'll probably have to look elsewhere..

I found this online that was posted yesterday (11-28):

A fire severly damaged a Harry London distribution facility and warehouse in Maple Heights Thanksgiving night.

No one was injured in the fire, but it has delayed orders of some of the North Canton company’s chocolates.

Fannie May and Harry London could not accept orders for any products other than chocolate dipped strawberries Friday, the company announced in a statement.

The company was working to assess the full impact of the fire and implement contingency plans, according to the statement.

They did not immediately return calls seeking information Friday.

I live in Ohio and had seen this on the news and wondered how it would affect the Q customers. I didn't get a lot of details, but thought this couldn't have happened at a worse time of year for all concerned.

I hope that when they get it figured out they let the Q customers know quickly, so those who are planning on the product can make other arrangements.

Thoughts and prayers to the company and it's employees that will be impacted by this during a season when being un or under employed isn't easy to withstand.

What a terrible time of year for this to happen. Many orders were probably scheduled to be shipped the first week of December.

Wonder if it has to do with the amount they make for a certain time period. Holidays, and they won't ship if the weather would melt them. Who knows? Heard chocolate could be hard to come by too. (It was in some thread on here even).

I wouldn't worry that Harry London's people have been in touch with corporate QVC to discuss the pre-sold orders scheduled for Dec. ship dates. Nothing is ever left to chance in retail, so as a marketing pro I would bet my bottom dollar that a plan of action is in place. There's no reason for QVC to post or announce anything other than to those customers who are expecting orders in December. If orders cannot be fulfilled the customers have not yet been billed, so while there may be disappointment, no one will have to worry about refunds.

It's a very unfortunate circumstance. Like most other companies selling consumer goods, a confectioner needs the business of holiday season to have a profitable year. It's hard for most (selling anything in retail) to break even without a strong 4th quarter. Hopefully, another manufacturer with the facilities to help out will come to Harry London's rescue and help them fulfill the QVC pre-sold orders even if it they can't assist them getting candy into regular retail stores.

I notice that once their holiday products have been ordered, they do disappear from inventory as they're no longer able to be ordered. New products should pop up again when Valentine's Day and Easter roll around.
