I love Temptations Cookware

I was in the ceramic business 25 years. Temptation is not ceramic, it is stoneware. Temptation pieces will have an unglazed area on the bottom as it is placed directly on the kiln shelf to be fired. Ceramic pieces are glazed on the bottom and are set on small pins, so they won't adhere to the shelf. I have never had a problem with temptations, and get many compliments when I take food in it. You eat first with your eyes! I just don't understand what the bashing Temptations is about! I think it is a beautiful product...Candy Kisses

The designs and styles are beautiful, and so many different ones over the years to choose from.

The problem is the lack of consistent quality.

Many ceramic/stoneware lines are made in China, but not all are made equally well. And within the TT line itself, there is horrible inconsistency in the quality of not only the coloring/painting, but the quality of the base product (stoneware or ceramic, whatever you want to call it. Tara uses both terms).

Most people who have yet to experience crazing and cracking don't get it until it happens to them.

Many of us who have had problems still love the product and more so the look, and continue to enjoy it. I know I do.

Both of my favorite colors have been discontinued (hot pink and lilac). Aside from that, I have problems with internal cracks. A real shame because when a piece goes, I can't replace. Needless to say, my collection is slowly dwindling.

I love mine too. I have old world cranberry . I have not had a problem. I love the way it looks on my table and in my kitchen. I also dig the easy clean up. So far so good.

It seems that some people have multiple problems with their TT crazing or breaking and others never have an issue. This leads me to feel strongly it has to be something they are doing that is causing it to craze or break.That is my opinion and I am sticking to it.

Yeah, I've never had a problem, either. I check.it thoroughly before and after each use, especially after reading threads on the subject. Nothing...They remain perfect. Maybe I'm just lucky.

Yes, you do stick to your opinions very well. You've posted this one on a regular basis in the TT forum and have been told repeatedly by many users that they treated their TT no differently than they would treat any other stoneware and still experienced breakage and crazing.

I think it's somewhat arrogant to dismiss ALL complaints as being just a matter of user error or incompetence.

SuzyQ3, I do agree with you. This particular poster and one other seem to think these boards are full of idiots and liars.

And for HH, I have had piece craze that were never used, just sitting on a shelf for display. I know I shouldn't be misusing them in such a horrendous manner, but I just can't help myself!

I think those that tout they never had a problem while claiming those that do lack the intelligence to use a piece of bakeware, are themselves unable to see well enough to know exactly how bad some of their pieces look.

That's my opinion and I'm sticking to it.

LOL, agreed. I need something I can use myself. Not just displayed.. esp with 4 boys at home. I have had chipping the inside of a bowl from spoons. It freaked me out where the piece that broke off was. This particular design had a raised pattern inside the bowl.. several years ago.. bistro something.. I put my kids food on their plates. So, I know they did not do it.. I had it breaking in an oven at 350.. I would not waste any more money.. or our safety/or the safety of my oven for that matter... Peace.

I love my Temptations too! I have not had any break on me while in the oven, I have had the crazing stuff appear but that doesn't bother me just by looking at it. So wha...... I think it's pretty.

Gulf coast girl, you can do your own research and make up your mind about it, but many people believe that when a piece of stoneware crazes, it is no longer safe to use for food. Some report that bacteria gets down in those tiny cracks and can contaminate the food. Others believe that substances in the paint including lead, can be leached into the food through the cracks as well. Most ceramic isn't 'lead free' but contains legally allowed levels of lead. At any rate, just thought I'd share, in case you hadn't heard of these two possibilities.

Not a fan of consuming food prepared in lead-based paint items, so I got rid of all of mine that I'd gotten as gifts.

Not a fan of consuming food prepared in lead-based paint items, so I got rid of all of mine that I'd gotten as gifts.

You have no proof that this stoneware poses more of a health danger than any other stoneware product, and regardless of any other problems associated with this product and regardless of my opinion of this product, I really think it's unconscionable to suggest otherwise.

If it did pose such a danger, it would generate a Prop 65 warning before being shipped to California. I have not heard that that happens.

You know people on here sent theirs in to be tested and everything. No it doesn't have lead, but people persist in fueling rumors that they have no clue about because it's made in china

Do I believe it cracks and crazes, yes there are regulars that have had it happen. Much more believable than the one post wonders. I have no clue why, but so long as I haven't I'm happy with mine. I use it a lot and with heat up to 400. I have old and new.

People who complain about the looks don't watch the presentation close enough. It's imperfect they say it enough, I'm not sure how anyone can expect anything else.

They do say it's 'lead-safe' but they have never said it is 'lead-free'.
