I have the CE 8 qt oval Q sold many years ago that is no longer available. DH had to replace a fuse in it. After it quit working again I bought one off EBay for parts & DH fixed it again. While it was not working I bought the 6 qt Cuisinart CPC600. It quit working & had to send it to Cuisinart & they sent me a new one. No problems with the new one. I still recommend the Cuisinart because it has a 3 yr warranty.

I did quite a bit of research into pressure cookers and I purchased the Secura and I love it. My second choice was Hotpot. You can Google both for information and reviews.

I also did lots of researching and finally purchased a 6 qt. Instant Pot...LOOOOOVE!!! it!!! I ordered it through Amazon. It was a little expensive, but it is a quality item and it had great reviews..

I bought the 7 in one that makes yogurt. It also has a stainless steel pot. I've had it for a few weeks and it's been used A LOT!! It makes wonderful yogurt. It also slow cooks, sautés, steams, keeps things warm and has several other pre-set functions.

I am still in the process of developing my own recipes, but have cooked everything from dried beans, rice, and meat, to cheesecake. I am very happy with my purchase so far.

I also bought Bob Wardens cookbook "Great Food Fast".. still have to tweak the recipes, but it's a nice book.

Good luck in your search..

According to Cooks Illustrated tests, Fagor is one of the top contenders, and since it's almost 200 less than their top pick the Fissler Vitaquick, would be a best buy.

Saw the same model (but labeled as Farberware)on Craigslist and was almost temped to buy it. Still works great, just if the gasket goes bad it'll be useless. I have a stove top too, CE/Fagor 10qt., at least you can still get parts for those.

I have this one and LOVE it, but bought it here under the Technique label: http://www.ttustore.com/product/8-quart-hard-anodized-aluminum-pressure-cooker-by-denmark-tools-for-cooks/ It's a no-frills, stovetop, no nonstick coating, just plain HA metal. Works like a dream. Love it. Eta I think the model in the link may be an upgrade, though the appearance is the same as mine. I bought mine a few years ago on clearance so it is no longer available. But I see that this model has some kind of temperature indicator.

Kuhn-Rikon, Fissler, Fagor and B/R/K all make quality stovetop pressure cookers that use the most modern stovetop pressure cooker technology (Presto, by the way, does not). Of those my favorite and the brand I own several of is the B/R/K. I also own and like the K-R and the Fissler. Of these brands, Fagor makes the least expensive stovetops.

If I were to by a digital PC, there's no question, I would purchase an Instant Pot. Their PCs have the most advanced features and keep getting better and better. I'd purchase either the brand new Bluetooth Smartcooker Instant Pot Smart or the 7-in-1 Instant Pot IP-DUO60. Why an Instant Pot?

* The Instant Pot company makes nothing but the Instant Pot pressure cooker, thus all attention and focus is on making the highest quality pressure cooker they can.

* Their customer service appears to be superior. They even monitor Amazon customer reviews and when a customer asks a question or has a concern someone from the company responds.

* Their website is very helpful. www.instantpot.com. There you'll find product feature info, cooking videos using the IP as a pressure cooker, slow cooker, steamer, for making yogurt, the sauté function and more.

I think it is by far the most helpful and complete website for any digital PC - or stovetop PC for that matter. In fact for most other digital pressure cookers, available resources are non-existent or extremely limited.

Instant Pot has been sold on QVC in England. Hopefully we'll see it on QVC USA soon.

On 12/11/2014 Thats Me said: I have this one and LOVE it, but bought it here under the Technique label: http://www.ttustore.com/product/8-quart-hard-anodized-aluminum-pressure-cooker-by-denmark-tools-for-cooks/ It's a no-frills, stovetop, no nonstick coating, just plain HA metal.

No question this pressure cooker can be had at a bargain price. I wonder however how easy it would be to get replacement gaskets (and after a time, ALL pressure cookers need to have their gaskets replaced) or replacement parts. That's an important factor whichever pressure cooker one purchases.

Know also that this (or any aluminum pressure cooker) will not work on an induction cooktop or a portable induction unit such as the Nuwave Portable Induction Cooker. That may not be an issue for anyone considering a stovetop pressure cooker, but if you do plan to use your PC on an induction cooktop, you'll need to purchase a stainless steel rather than an aluminum pressure cooker. Personally I use all my stovetop pressure cookers on a Nuwave PIC (Portable Induction Cooker) and love the Nuwave PIC for that purpose.
