    <description>&lt;P&gt;I bought a magazine in the grocery store a few days ago. It's put out by Better Homes and Gardens Special Interest Publications, and was first published in 2011, and republished for 2012 until November 5 of this year, according to what it says on the cover. The title is Fall Baking. Also on the cover, it boasts 147 simply irresistible recipes. They look pretty good!&lt;/P&gt; &lt;P&gt;On page 7, along with a picture of a sliced open persimmon, it reads:&lt;/P&gt; &lt;P&gt;&lt;STRONG&gt;Can locally grown persimmons forecast the weather? According to legend, the interior kernel of a split persimmon seed will reveal the shape of a fork, knife, or spoon. If seeds have mostly forks, the upcoming winter will bring lots of light, fluffy snow. Seeds containing knives predict an extremely cold, windy winter. Those with mainly spoons predict piles of heavy, wet snow.&lt;/STRONG&gt;&lt;/P&gt; &lt;P&gt;I thought it was kind of interesting, and wonder how many folks may have believed this in times past? After all, they didn't have Al Roker way back when. &lt;STRONG&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;/STRONG&gt;&lt;/P&gt; &lt;P&gt; &lt;/P&gt; &lt;P&gt; &lt;/P&gt;</description>
