On 11/17/2014 misschristy said:
This doesn't involve K-cups, but I just heard Hamilton Beach has a new coffee maker where you just put a scoop of loose coffee in to make individual cups. When my Keurig bites the dust, I'm going to check out the reviews on this. I think it's fairly new, so there may not be many reviews yet.

I'm not sure if you're talking about The Scoop, but I've had mine for approx. a year, and I love it! There's a newer version, but I love the one I have.

It's so simple - The filter is a scoop, and you scoop whatever coffee you like into it. It brews one cup at a time, and can do tall cups & short ones. No paper filters, no mess, simple clean-up, easy to get the strength you want, environmentally friendly. (The newer version takes up more space & has a carafe option also.)

I am absolutely in love with it! I got it from BB&B for approx. $60, and I bought another one a few months ago as a back-up because I do not want to ever be without it. As you said misschristy, it doesn't use k-cups, so this doesn't really answer the OP's question. But I wanted to respond to you, and also thought it might be of interest to others.

What other machines out there use K-cups and give hot water on demand? I think my Keurig is ready to bite the dust since the water is barely hot. I am also disgusted with Keurig's new " must use this brand" tactic. I happen to like my Trader Joe's k-cups. Any help appreciated! Thanks!

I bought my K-65 from Target in September. It was on clearance because they had to make room for the 2.0s. Keurig still has other options.

Trader Joe's Coffee Cups are awesome!!!!!

Have you called Keurig about your hot water issue?

We have a Cuisinart Keurig brewer.

It has a 3 year warranty, large 80 ounce water tank, 5 cup sizes to choose from and a rinse button and a hot water button.

It works great and I love it.

http://www.bedbathandbeyond.com/store/product/cuisinart-reg-keurig-reg-brewed-single-serve-brewing-system/124293?categoryId=12855

Today I also see this brewer on the Costco website. Free shipping and 60 k-cups and 6 water filters for $179.99.

I sometimes use an Ekobrew filter in our Cuisinart for our own ground coffee and that works great too. I prefer to use the Ekobrew filter to the My K-cup. To use the My K-cup you have to remove the plastic housing, but the Ekobrew is the same size as a k-cup and it fits perfectly.

I'll tell anyone who'll listen. Check out the reviews for the Bunn MyCafe MCU machine. Purchased mine at Amazon. We're in love with it. I'm so over keurig. Had two machines go bad and I don't like k-cup restrictions. Hope you find something you love too!

Green Mountain bought out Keurig, hence the K cups from them only, as they are being specific with the other companies to produce to their standard......Got this from "Keurig", as had some issues with ordering lately, and their website was up, down, up down, up down......during the transition...... That is why all of the machines out there are now available for a song and dance.......

As My3 girls stated, I also have the Bunn MCU. You can use it for K-cups, water, coffee or tea pods or ground coffee. I got mine from Lowe's last year. I love it. Every 3 or 4 months they e-mail me to clean it out with vinegar. I think I signed up for this on their web-site. I need all the reminders I can get.

I really do not drink much coffee, but I love tea. All my family and friends are thrilled that I finally have a coffee maker that takes K-cups.

Hope this helps....

If you get another Keurig, you don't have to get one with the water on demand feature to get water on demand. Just lift the front handle like you are going to insert a Kcup and then put the handle down again. You can then just push the button for the size cup you are using and you will get hot water in that amount. I do this all the time and use tea bags instead of Kcups. If your Keurig isn't working correctly, call their customer service line and they may very well replace it!
