Today, during the Butterball fryer presentation with David V. the guest (guest was author of "Dadgum" cookbook) poured what looked like a type of Maple sauce with Pecans over the turkey breast, but they never got around to telling us what that was.

Anyone know what type of "sauce" this is?

Honey-Glazed Roasted Pecan Deep-Fried Turkey Breast

Ingredients
2 gallons peanut oil
1 (5 to 7 lb.) turkey breast, bone-in
1 cup chicken broth

Pecan Glaze:
1 cup pecans, halved
1 cup honey
3/4 cup (1 1/2 sticks) butter

Directions
Fill Butterball® Indoor Electric Turkey Fryer with oil to the MAX line. Heat to 375° F; this will take approximately 20 to 25 minutes.

To properly thaw a frozen turkey breast in the refrigerator allow approximately 24 hours for every 4 pounds. If present, remove and discard pop-up timer. Rinse turkey breast thoroughly with warm water, or cover with warm water and soak for no more than 30 minutes to ensure cavities are free of ice. Pat turkey breast completely dry with paper towels, inside and out. Using injector syringe, inject cup (4 ounces) of chicken broth into each side of breast.

Place turkey in fryer basket and slowly lower basket into hot oil; be cautious of splattering. Cover and reduce heat to 325° F. Fry turkey breast for 7 minutes per pound. After calculated cooking time is complete, lift the basket from the hot oil slowly, hooking the drain clip of the basket into the drain clip mounting hole. To check doneness, insert a meat thermometer into the meaty part of the breast; it is done when it reads 165° F. If turkey breast is not done, lower it back into the oil for an additional 5 minutes. Repeat basket procedure to check temperature again. Once turkey breast reaches a minimum temperature of 165° F, turn the turkey fryer to MIN and unplug it from the outlet. Allow the turkey breast to rest and drain in the fryer basket for 5 minutes before removing and applying glaze. Carve and serve.

Pecan Glaze: Preheat oven to 375° F. Spread pecans in a single layer on a baking sheet. Bake 8 minutes, or until lightly browned. Remove from oven, let cool, and chop coarsely.

In a small saucepan over medium-high heat, combine honey and butter. Stir in toasted, chopped pecans and cook for 8 minutes to infuse the flavors. Remove from heat and keep warm.

Once turkey breast has rested, place onto a serving platter and pour glaze over top of turkey breast.

http://recipes.masterbuilt.com/honey-glazed-roasted-pecan-deep-fried-turkey-breast/

Thanks Nightowlz!! You are very kind to have taken the time.

To the rest of you who think this would "ruin" a turkey, RELAX. 1) YOU don't have to make it or eat it, and 2) I was going to offer it as a side, next to the gravy.

So you can go back to worrying about something more serious, like a hang-nail...

I generally use butter and brown sugar instead of maple syrup, but pecans are super easy to get down here in Georgia. We keep ours in the freezer for all year use. We just pick them up out of the yards this time of year. We also have blueberries in the backyards all summer, so we freeze those and make blueberry cake, cobblers, and pies. We have tons of pies for Thanksgiving and Christmas. We bake throughout the year and freeze them, mostly pecan and pumpkin, but those are gathered this time of year anyway.

Nobody is saying you have to drown anything in this....and a lot of people are acting as if this is something from Mars.... IF your deli carries it, you might want to try Boar's Head Maple Turkey...if people didn't like it, they wouldn't be making it..... And now I would like to talk about John Elliott.....there are many people here who are criticizing the use of anything offensive to them... so be it...many years ago we we at an event and we ran into Bill Elliot and his lovely wife at a charity event. They were over the moon: their beautiful intelligent son just graduated from West Point and was engaged to a brilliant, beautiful woman. The world was their oyster: they had everything in the world to look forward too.....and so we ran into them, and Mrs. Elliot was beaming: yes, this was a big night, and her husband was THE spokesman for Shore Memmorial Hospital in Somers Point NJ, but she wanted to get home....she wanted to finish off making her son's favorite desserts....it was going to be a huge celebration....their son not only graduated from West Point, but he was engaged to a beautiful, intelligent young woman. Tragedy struck however.... John was killed by a drunk driver....it was one of the saddest funerals I have ever been to.... Murial Elliot was preparing food for a celebration##### Well, I have never forgotten this. One year, my beloved MIL was with us, and the next year, she was gone..... My point? Let's enjoy our food, let's drop snarky comments...this is one day out of the year, but who cares??? Treasure your family, and maybe step out of your comfort zone before criticizing others and their tastes. NONE of us know who who may be present or absent from our table.... Poodlepet

I apologize for not being able to read the entirety of that large paragraph in small font (I know it's not your fault), but it seems like the only ones being mean and snarky here are those who don't want to hear differing opinions.

I say that if somebody only wants to hear one opinion, perhaps they should make that clear up front. Meanwhile, and otherwise, people will offer differing opinions.

Heck, there are things that I like that others find repugnant. Big deal. It's nothing personal and I would never take it that way. There is no reason to personalize (like with the name-calling) something that is not personal.

CB, I agree...Hugs, and that is what we should all be doing this time of year.....I just think it's terrible that somebody takes the time to post, and then snarky comments come out. Not everything is to everyone's taste, but some are just rude. I do feel compelled to say something because this should be a friendly place. Hugs to you CB, Poodlepet
