I love my whistling Simplex. I have a copper one but they also make chrome. they are beautiful and elegant and should last a lifetime if taken care of. you can find them on the Simplex website, Amazon, Williams-Sonoma.

I recently purchased a Chef's Choice electric tea kettle from Kohl's. I absolutely love it. The cord is attached to the base so you can pick up the kettle without having to worry about the cord. It has an auto shut off. I use it to heat water for iced tea, to warm up my dishwater, and to add hot water to recipes on the stove. I even used it to heat water to defrost my chest freezer. Made the job so much easier. Best appliance purchase I have made in years. I used a 30% off coupon online and also used the Kohl's cash I had. Mine was originally $49.99. You can also search these boards for other threads about different electric kettles. The threads prompted me to purchase one and I'm so glad I did !!!

I had a cheap plastic electric kettle and LOVED it. I have a fancy stainless with temperature selection now and I LOVE it too! It is a great way to boil water in a jiffy! I have a Chantal one (great) and a Staub one (great and beautiful) in the garage and the electric has a space always on my counter top.

I love my electric tea kettle! There are a number out there, just head over to Amazon or QVC and see what they have. There are tons of reviews, as electric tea kettles are used in the bulk of Europe and Asia.

Get her a cordless electric. The cord stays with the base. The boil much faster than the stove, a good one will have an automatic turn off so they are safe. My mother kept forgetting she put the kettle on and ruined quite a few so I got her an electric one. She loves it now. I think the same water gets boiled 3 times before she gets it the cup though lol .......I have used an electric kettle for years. I don't even have a stove stop model anymore. I'm a big time tea drinker, 5 old sometimes more cups a day

If I were to get a new one, I would go for a ceramic electric kettle just because it looks so much like a real pot and nice to look at on your counter. There are ones that will allow you to set the temp of the water for different teas, which I have one at work that was $10 at WalMart clearance section but it is metal, though great for $10 and not the original $70. I have coffee pots and kettles at home and work. I love tea and coffee so I tend to drink all day and into the evening.

I replaced my Le Creuset tea kettle after many years of use with this one from Sur La Table. I LOVE this one so much more! It's the perfect size (not too big, not too small), and it heats up quick quick quick! http://www.surlatable.com/product/PRO-906560/?affsrcid=Aff0001&CAGPSPN=pla&CAWELAID=120120820000005899&catargetid=120120820000117569&cadevice=c

What is her kitchen like? I ask because if she wants to leave the tea kettle out on the stove, and if she has a certain 'style' or color theme, that may be as important to her as the function. Also, when I chose mine I wanted the option of being able to put it in the dishwasher from time to time. I have red accents in my kitchen and wanted a stylish red tea kettle; I bought and love a Chantal red enamel model, the smaller one they offer, and we love it; it looks pretty; it whistles and the water boils easily!

I just use a Zojirushi hot water pot, you can set it for different temps depending on what your favorite tea needs. 208, 195 or 175. Mine holds 4 liters and it's so convenient to have hot water ready anytime you need it. My husband also uses it for his coffee with a French press.

I use mine many times a day being British The best one I've found over here is the Russell Hobbs brand which is a popular brand in Britain. It has worked out better for me to spend a little more for a good one than to get cheap plastic ones that only last a few months. I found mine at Macys on Black Friday about four years ago

Agree: the Russell Hobbs is excellent. I got the one with the wider base which accommodates a small cup hot plate. Got it @ Macy's also. We have well water and sometimes I need to use a long-handled brush to remove the mineral buildup. DH uses this pot to heat water quickly for cooking pasta in a pot on the stove.

I have the Cuisinart electric tea kettle!!! Love it!! You can choose the right temp for the tea, for example: black tea, the kettle comes to a full boil, green tea is a different temp, white tea, a different temp & so on. It really is a great appliance!
